Otherworld Theatre announced casting for the world premiere of The Winter Wolf a holiday fantasy written by Joseph Zettelmaier and directed by artistic associate Lauren N. Fields. The play runs December 6, 2018 - January 6, 2019. Press opening is December 8, 2018 at 3914 N Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60613 in The Alchemist's Lab space within Otherworld Theatre. The Winter Wolf was workshopped in 2017 as part of the Otherworld Theatre Reading Series, a monthly staged reading and talkback series. Fields is a recently named artistic associate at Otherworld and directed last season's world premiere production, Down the Rocky Road and All the Way to Bedlam. Kokandy Productions Names New Producing Artistic Director; Artistic Associates

Kokandy Productions is pleased to announce the appointment of Derek Van Barham as the company's new Producing Artistic Director, succeeding Allison Hendrix, who served in the position since Kokandy was founded in 2010. Barham is joined by three new Artistic Associates: Adrian Abel Azevedo, Leda Hoffmann and Nik Whitcomb. As it prepares to celebrate its second birthday in the West End, Disney's Aladdin announces today that fourteen new cast members will be joining the company. Matthew Croke will continue to star in the title role, having joined the company in June 2017, opposite original London cast members Jade Ewen (Jasmine) and Trevor Dion Nicholas (Genie). New cast members include Fred Johanson as Jafar and Julian Capolei as Omar. Original cast member Jermaine Woods will play Iago, having previously covered the role. (more...)

Son of Rambow - The Musical is an adaptation of the hit cult film featuring an original 80s pop soundtrack by two of the UK's most successful pop writers Miranda Cooper and Nick Coler with the book by Richard Marsh. His mission for the 19-piece Big Band slated to issue its debut album, “Get It How You Live” on the Ropeadope label on July 13, is to breathe new life into “traditional” jazz Big Bands by expanding its possibilities in the modern era. PBS today unveiled a list of America's 100 best-loved novels, chosen in support of THE GREAT AMERICAN READ, a new PBS series and multi-platform initiative that celebrates the joy of reading and the books we love. THE GREAT AMERICAN READ, hosted by television personality and journalist Meredith Vieira, launches with a two-hour episode today, May 22, 2018, at 8 p.m. on PBS stations and will introduce viewers to the full list of America's 100 favorite novels selected through a demographically representative national survey conducted by YouGov. The series will also feature interviews with celebrities, authors, superfans and everyday Americans discussing the way particular books have influenced them and their significance in American popular culture. Then, after a multi-platform initiative throughout the summer, which will include live public events, social media components and national reading clubs, the series will resume in the fall with several themed episodes, including an exciting finale, culminating in the first-ever national vote to choose 'America's Best-Loved Novel.' Milwaukee Rep's PTI Ensemble Performs LOST GIRL

Milwaukee Repertory Theater presents the World Premiere production of Lost Girl by Kimberly Belflower performed by the 2017/18 Professional Training Institute (PTI) ensemble this July 19-22, 2018 in the Stiemke Studio.  PTI is an advanced actor-training program for students in 8th-12th grade who may have an interest in pursuing a career as a professional theater artist.   The 2017/18 PTI ensemble features sixteen students hailing from fourteen different high schools who received free training from some of the top theater professionals in the world, culminating in this capstone performance  of Lost Girl where they will be employed as paid, professional actors.
