As Disneynature celebrates 10 years since its first feature-film debut, its newest conservation intitiative—this one tied to the upcoming big-screen adventure “Penguins”—was revealed today.  For every ticket sold opening week (April 17-23, 2019), Disneynature will make a donation to the Wildlife Conservation Network (WCN) to help protect penguins across the southern hemisphere. 

Jobsite Theater continues their 20th Anniversary Season with another hit! Othello opens this Fri., Jan. 11, but performances are already selling so well that the company has decided to open up the run through Feb. 9. Othello begins previews tonight, Wed. Jan 9, in the Shimberg Playhouse at the Straz Center where Jobsite is resident theater company. The added performances are Feb. 7-9, all at 8pm.

ANNIE, this year's Hollywood Bowl Summer Musical, will be performed by an all-star cast July 27, 28 and 29. Classical singer and musical actress, Aim e Marcoux-Spurlock, whose true-life story came to the big screen in 2017 in the acclaimed Sony release, All Saints, will take the stage of The Triad Theater in The Women of Bilbao, a collection of Kurt Weill's compositions from his 12-tone Weimar period to his more lush Broadway compositions. The repertoire includes 'Surabaya Johnny' from Happy End, 'Moon of Alabama,' from The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny and 'That's Him' from One Touch of Venus. Marcoux-Spurlock will be joined by Doug Martin as Pianist-Conductor (Baz Luhrmann's La Boh me on Broadway). Michael Feingold, noted arts critic (Village Voice), is the director.

The Old Globe's 2017 2018 Season continues with today's announcement of the complete cast and creative team for Anton Chekhov's masterpiece Uncle Vanya, which has received a Globe-commissioned world premiere translation from Richard Nelson, Richard Pevear, andLarissa Volokhonsky. Richard Nelson (Illyria, The Gabriel Plays, Tony Award winner for Best Book of a Musical for James Joyce's The Dead) also directs. Uncle Vanya will run February 10 March 11, 2018 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Tickets start at $30.00 and are on sale to the general public now. Previews run February 10 14. Opening night is Thursday, February 15 at 8:00 p.m.
