Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, under the artistic direction of Glenn Edgerton, announces today, programming for Season 39 Summer Series, June 8-11, 2017 at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance. The program features a look at Hubbard Street through the decades, featuring The 40s and Georgia by Lou Conte, Twyla Tharp's The Golden Section, an excerpt from Resident Choreographer, Alejandro Cerrudo's One Thousand Pieces as well as pieces by Jim Vincent, Crystal Pite, William Forsythe, and Lucas Crandall.

She is currently preparing to star as Florence in Chess at The Theatre Lab School for the Dramatic Arts, which, in my opinion, is the best arts in education institution in DC. The production runs from April 27th through May 6th.

SILENCE! THE MUSICAL Announces Final Extension Through 4/1

Due to overwhelming audience response, Cloud 9 Theatricals, in association with Lang Entertainment Group and Ray of Light Theatre, announced today the second and final extension of the San Francisco premiere ofSILENCE! The Musical - the "subversively funny and deliciously tasty" award-winning musical parody of "The Silence of the Lambs." Originally scheduled through Saturday, February 25, tickets are now on-sale through its final performance, Saturday, April 1.  The performance schedule is as follows: Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets range in price from $35- $55 and are available online at www.silencethemusicalsf.comand at the Victoria Theatre box office (2961 16th St.) one-hour prior to performance time. Chianti will be on tap at the theater, but at this time, no fava-beans will be made available for public consumption. Ticket prices are subject to change without notice.

The Musical, the unauthorized parody of "The Silence of the Lambs," playing a limited engagement at San Francisco's Victoria Theatre (2961 16th Street, San Francisco), Today, January 26 through Saturday, February 25, 2017. SILENCE! The Musical tells the story of rookie FBI agent Clarice Starling as she matches wits with the brilliant but insane cannibal, Dr. Hannibal Lecter in order to catch the serial killer known as Buffalo Bill. Clarice faces her own demons-and a troupe of singing and dancing lambs-while racing against the clock to unlock Lecter's clues before another innocent girl is killed and skinned by Buffalo Bill.

Park Square and Mu Performing Arts to Co-Produce FLOWER DRUM SONG

Park Square continues its 42nd season on the Proscenium Stage with a Mu Performing Arts and Park Square Theatre co-production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Flower Drum Song, directed by Mu Artistic Director Randy Reyes, based on the 2002 book adaptation by Tony Award-winning playwright David Henry Hwang (M. Butterfly, Yellowface, Chinglish).  Previously produced by Mu in 2009, this will be a fully reimagined production featuring new and familiar faces. Flower Drum Song, created by legendary musical theater duo Rodgers and Hammerstein takes audiences to the vibrant world of San Francisco's Chinatown in the 1950s to Club Chop Suey, a nightclub owned by a Chinese-American family. Old World tradition clashes with New World trends as two generations, father and son, struggle to honor and protect their cultural traditions while adapting to the changing times.

With a goal of topping last year's record-breaking $525,000 raised in its ongoing battle against Parkinson's disease, LIGHT OF DAY WINTERFEST 2017: The Beat Goes On, presented by the Asbury Park Press, is kicking off in Montclair, NJ as LIGHT OF DAY NORTH JERSEY: Artists Up Close & Personal, an intimate concert event for the world-renowned Light of Day Foundation. The 10-day Light of Day Winterfest will bring over 150 music acts to 30 venues in three New Jersey cities, New York City, and Philadelphia, January 6-16, following holiday season tours of Europe and Canada.

Regardless of background or socioeconomic status, this season offers ways for a broad audience to be able to experience opera; it's an open invitation for the Pacific Northwest.

Now celebrating their 40th anniversary season, the Emerson String Quartet was already a marquee attraction when I first encountered them in live concert during the summer of 2002 at the Aspen Music Festival. That was about the time when members of the quartet, except for the cellist sitting on a riser, began to perform standing up. It was an oblique acknowledgement that, in their realm, they were rock stars.

Museum of the Moving Image will present the most comprehensive U.S. retrospective of all of the Polish director's features, short films, early documentary work, and a marathon viewing of the Dekalog, from October 7 through November 6, 2016. The series will also include four posthumous works based on Kieslowski's unproduced screenplays.
