Jeanna de Waal Will Star In DIANA: A New Musical At La Jolla Playhouse

La Jolla Playhouse has announced that Jeanna de Waal will portray the title role in its upcoming world-premiere musical Diana, by the Tony Award-winning Memphis team of Joe DiPietro (book and lyrics) and David Bryan (music and lyrics), directed by Playhouse Artistic Director and 2017 Tony Award winner Christopher Ashley and choreographed by Tony nomineeKelly Devine. The production will run February 19 - March 31, 2019 in the Playhouse's Mandell Weiss Theatre. The complete cast and creative team will be announced at a later date.

Great Performances presents more of the Great White Way's brightest stars with a new "Broadway's Best" lineup premiering Fridays, November 2-23 at 9 p.m. on PBS (check local listings). Returning for a second year, this fall's lineup includes the beloved musicals "An American in Paris The Musical" and Rodgers & Hammerstein's "The Sound of Music," as well as documentaries about the making of John Leguizamo's Tony-nominated play "Latin History for Morons" and 21-time Tony-winning director and producer Harold Prince. All programs will be available to stream the following day via pbs.org/gperf and PBS apps.

The Stage kicks off Season 36 with the Obie-winning play 'The Lieutenant of Inishmore' by acclaimed playwright Martin McDonagh; screenwriter, director, and producer of this year's Golden Globe winner for Best Motion Picture - 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri'.  McDonagh's work is built into the fabric of San Jose Stage Company's mission to illuminate the human condition. Freeform has expanded their annual Halloween programming event to “31 Nights of Halloween” bringing more thrills and chills to the entire month. From Oct. 1, the network will be invaded by everyone's favorite witches, a murderous barber, out of control dinosaurs and everything else that goes bump in the night.

The play originally premiered in the US at the Northlight Theatre, Illinois in 1993 and this production made its UK premiere at the Tabard Theatre last year. Ian Brown returns to direct Alexander McMorran (Jody) and Aaron Vodovoz (Carl) for this strictly limited run; opening on 14 June, with previews from 12 June and running until 7 July.
