The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has today announced the shortlist for the 2018 BAFTA Student Film Awards. Following the international expansion of the Awards in 2017, this year's shortlisted 60 films have been selected from the 469 submissions by students at film schools in 35 countries across the world, including Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Egypt, Germany, India, Israel, Kenya, Lebanon, Russia, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

Theatre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK) presents La perle de la Canebiere (The Pearl of Marseille). The play is performed by La Troupe du Theatre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK's Gang) and directed by Pierre Leloup. La perle de la Canebiere (The Pearl of Marseille) is a single act comedy, performed for the first time in Paris (Theatre du Palais Royal) in February 1855. The play was written by Eugene Labiche and Marc Michel, both fine observers of the French society of the 19th century. What happens in this pearl ? The action takes place in a very bourgeois and conservative society, greatly unreceptive to poetry and any kind of eccentricity. Thereson Marcasse, the outgoing pearl, the free and generous marseillaise, shatters this incredibly narrow world. The pearl is a bomb of excessiveness in a world of moderation.

Overture Center revealed its 2018/19 season, which features nearly 100 performances, including seven new-to-Overture-Hall Broadway titles and 23 new Overture Presents shows.

TV One is celebrating Black History Month with a full slate of programming offerings that embody the theme, 'Represent the Dream.' Sotheby's auction of The Collection of Edward Albee totaled $12.5 million today in New York. Every work on offer was sold, denoting rare 'white glove' auction status, with three-quarters of all lots outstripping their high estimates. The full proceeds of the sale will benefit The Edward F. Cawelti and written by Lisa Dring and Chelsea Sutton, Kaidan Project: Walls Grow Thin begins performances at a secret, Mid-City six-story warehouse built in 1927 (revealed after tickets are purchased) on October 5 and runs until November 5, 2017, with opening night on October 13.
