Grammy Award-nominated folk-rock singer-songwriter Steve Forbert brings his band, the New Renditions, and his distinctive folk-rock sound to Club Helsinki Hudson on Thursday, July 18, at 8pm. Best known for hit songs 'Romeo's Tune' and 'Goin' Down to Laurel,' Forbert was touted as a 'new Dylan' when he burst upon the scene in downtown New York in the mid-1970s.

The French Institute Alliance Fran aise (FIAF), New York's premier French cultural and language center, today announced the 2019 Crossing the Line Festival, featuring 11 performances and a gallery exhibition from a geographically, generationally, and artistically diverse group of artists whose work transcends genres and boundaries. All performances are world, US, or New York premieres; they are united by their convention-breaking fearlessness as they confront topics from social injustice to personal demons. Many of the performances pay homage to legendary artists of our time and previous eras, while the theme of migration and its transformational effects on identity informs several others. Founding Artistic Director Fred Anzevino today announced a partial lineup of musicals for the company's second year in residence at the Howard Street Theatre, the venue developed by the City of Evanston specifically for the company.

Entanglement is a twelve movement suite inspired by Michael Moss' long study of Eastern mythology, physics, and Jungian analytical psychology. Moss artistically and musically presents an ancient metaphysical oracle in present-day form using improvisation over an extended compositional structure to realize his aims. Each of the 12 movements expresses a sephira or "limb" of the Tree of Life. For the Accidental Orchestra Moss has adapted Ain Soph, a 1973 composition recorded by Free Energy on 4th Stream Records (Cross Current, 1978). Ain Soph explores archetypal themes in the Kabbalah and represents the creation myth as a substrate of the Jewish mythical tradition.

The Kennedy Center announces the June calendar of events for Millennium Stage, its free daily performance series featuring art and artists representing countless artistic styles. Highlights of the June calendar include many performances dedicated to the United States's original art form-jazz. Participants of the Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead program-the international jazz residency, performance, and composition project that discovers and presents the next generation of jazz greats on  Millennium Stage (June 6-8). Additionally, the Kennedy Center will host eight performances in collaboration with the DC Jazz Festival (June 9-16). The Boston Symphony Orchestra returns to Carnegie Hall this March for two back-to-back programs in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. In an all-Richard Strauss program on Tuesday, March 19 at 8:00 p.m., music director and conductor Andris Nelsons and the BSO are joined by world-renowned soprano Renee Fleming for the closing scene in the composer's final opera, Capriccio, on a program also including the Sextet and Moonlight Music from that opera, as well as the tone poem Also sprach Zarathustra.

Rainy Day Productions will present industry readings of the new play Chasing the River by Jean Dobie Giebel. Directed by Illana Stein, the six-member cast will feature Tony Carlin, Aaron Costa Ganis, Annie Golden, Deborah Rayne, Chet Siegel, and Wendy Rich Stetson. Producers Anita Greenspan and Tony Hawk with Executive producer Adam Zotovich announced today that a new musical adaptation of the 2007 Nick Hornby novel, SLAM, is in development. This new project will feature a book by Tony Award Nominee Kyle Jarrow (SpongeBob SquarePants the Musical) with music and lyrics by Mark Mothersbaugh (prolific film composer, co-founder of new wave band Devo). Pro-skater Tony Hawk, who is featured as a character in the novel, is a producer on the project and is slated to develop skate choreography.

For Buckley, Arena's production will not only mark Kleptocracy's world premiere, but the chance to return to, "One of the most prestigious repertory theaters in America."

The 92nd St. Y's Dig Dance will present AILEEN PASSLOFF, Stepping Foward: One Foot (in front of the other), a program of dances by Aileen Passloff, noted choreographer, dancer, director, actor and teacher, along with rarely seen works, reconstructed by Passloff, of James Waring and Remy Charlip, Thursday January 11 at 8 PM and Sunday January 13 at 3 PM.. Passloff will present dances choreographed in the early 1960s, when she was one of the pioneers of the early Judson Church modern dance scene, to new works receiving their world premieres. Pianists Doug Schultz, Michael Scales and Michael Cherry, and guitarist Arturo Martinez, will accompany most of the dances and provide short musical interludes during the performance.
