The Verdi Chorus 35th Anniversary Season Ends with PASSIONE! OPERA!

The Verdi Chorus 35th anniversary season culminates with its Fall 2018 concert Passione! Opera! for two performances only at the First United Methodist Church in Santa Monica on November 10 and 11 led by Founding Artistic Director Anne Marie Ketchum.   As the only choral group in Southern California that focuses primarily on the dramatic and diverse music for opera chorus, this program, which marks the end of a landmark year for the company, will feature selections from three Verdi operas - Aida, Don Carlo, and the famed chorus 'Va, pensiero,' from Nabucco, as well as operatic sequences from Boito's Mefistofele, Saint-Saens' Samson and Delilah, Catalani's La Wally and Offenbach's The Tales of Hoffmann.

A gentle young teacher, expecting a generous bequest from her deceased father, suddenly finds out she's been disinherited. All the money she was counting on will now go to a vicious gold digger who swooped down and captivated her father in his last illness. Who'll come to the rescue? A fairy godmother? A Prince Charming? NewFest 2018 Announces Full Lineup For Their 30th Anniversary

Following the announcement of their Opening Night Film, Yen Tan's award-winning AIDS drama 1985, NewFest today announced the full lineup of their 30th annual celebration of the year's best LGBT films from around the world. The program of more than 140 narrative features, documentaries, episodic series and shorts runs from October 24-30 at the SVA Theatre, Cinépolis Chelsea, and The LGBT Community Center in New York City.

On Friday, September 28, 2018, Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Du Yun releases her latest collaboration with the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), Dinosaur Scar, on TUNDRA via New Focus Recordings. With Du Yun's signature chameleonic presence, the album revisits foundational works that showcase their ever-evolving partnership. Du Yun is the 2017 recipient of the Pulitzer Prize in Music for her opera Angel's Bone.

Venues in the U.K.'s Cannock, plus Regina, Canada, and Santa Fe, Argentina, as well as Brazil's Rio De Janeiro, are a few of the newest locales that already include Brazil's São Paulo and Curitiba, Ibiza, Spain, Diamante, Argentina, Los Angeles, California and Mexico City, Mexico. The roster recently was updated with more U.S. participants including New Orleans' famed Nola Brewery with confirmed performers including Grammy Award-winning blues legend Vasti Jackson, Tin Men featuring Washboard Chaz and Tom McDermott, and Six Springs Tavern in Richardson Texas where local bands will be featured from 1 PM to 1 AM. In addition to these marquis events, there will be smaller, grass roots events taking place supporting the Foundation's efforts.
