TheaterWorks announced today the full cast and creative team for RELATIVITY, a new play by Mark St. Germain directed by Rob Ruggiero.

Terry Johnson's "Painfully funny and funnily painful" (The Times) comedy, DEAD FUNNY, returns for a strictly limited season at the Vaudeville Theatre this autumn with Katherine Parkinson (The IT Crowd, In The Club, Humans), Steve Pemberton (The League of Gentleman, Benidorm, Whitechapel), Ralf Little (The Royle Family, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, The Cafe), Emily Berrington (The Inbetweeners 2, Humans, 24) and Rufus Jones (W1A, Hunderby, The Casual Vacancy). 

TheaterWorks announced today that Academy Award winner Richard Dreyfuss will be joining the cast of RELATIVITY, a new play by Mark St. Germain directed by Rob Ruggiero.

Long Wharf Theatre, in conjunction with the Old Globe in San Diego, presents the world premiere of Steve Martin's Meteor Shower, directed by Artistic Director Gordon Edelstein, running from September 28 through October 23, 2016. The full cast has just been announced!

Washington National Opera (WNO) today announced full programming details for the fifth season of the American Opera Initiative, its comprehensive commissioning program that brings contemporary American stories to the stage while fostering the talents of rising American composers and librettists. For the first time, all of the program's world premiere operas will be presented during an American Opera Initiative Festival weekend, January 13-15, 2017 in the Kennedy Center Family Theater.

The West Coast revival of the critically acclaimed Broadway play THE GATHERING by playwright Arje Shaw, directed by Joy Carlin, opens on Saturday July 23 at 8pm at the Live Oak Theatre in Berkeley.

World Music Institute announces the fall and winter portion of the 2016-17 Season. In its second season under Artistic Director Par Neiburger and Executive Director Gaby Sappington, WMI will be curating a uniquely wide range of world music, from traditional and folkloric to the experimental and avant-garde.

History- actual 20th century events and the theatre's own story and legacy - became the joint focus of Maine State Music Theatre's second Peek Behind the Curtain talkback, held on July 7 at the Curtis Memorial Library. The panel examined the characters and forces that formed the basis for MSMT"s thrilling production of Evita, now playing at the Pickard until July 16, and also took several excursions into MSMT's history, which forms the basis of a new retrospective exhibition, MSMT Past, Present, and Future, which serendipitously celebrated a gala opening that same date. Moderated by Broadway World's Carla Maria Verdino-Sullwold, the panel featured the three stars of the Andrew Lloyd-Webber musical, Kate Fahrner, Matt Farcher, and Nat Chandler, as well as the Artistic Directors of two of the areas leading theatres, MSMT's own Curt Dale Clark and the Good Theater's Brian P. Allen.

For two weekends July 8-10 and July 15-17, the floating theatre on Red Hook's historic barge will present an episodic play about the search for that mythological place called home. Written and Directed by Brooklyn-based Mia Rovegno, Nothin's Gonna Change My World is a play experienced via a series of stories inspired by NPR reports, anonymous letters, RV living blogs, and the Occupy Movement. Mia's recent production of The Way They Live with the Civilians at the Metropolitan Museum of Art was designated one of The New Yorker's Favorite Cultural Moments of 2015.  The performance features original music by Alaina Ferris & Matt Schlatter.

As BroadwayWorld reported this morning, Bette Midler will indeed return to Broadway in one of the most cherished shows in musical theater history when she takes on the role of Dolly Gallagher Levi in Michael Stewart's (book) and Jerry Herman's (music and lyrics) masterpiece, Hello, Dolly!. Directed by four-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Zaks, Hello, Dolly! will begin performances on Broadway on March 13, 2017, with an official opening night of April 20, 2017. Rehearsals begin one year from today. This new production of Hello, Dolly!, the first new production of this classic musical to appear on Broadway since it opened more than fifty years ago, will have at its helm Jerry Zaks as its director, and will feature choreography by Tony Award-winner Warren Carlyle. The new Dolly! will pay tribute to the original work of legendary director/choreographer Gower Champion, which has been hailed both then and now as one of the greatest stagings in musical theater history. The Hill Country Community Theatre will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a Broadway Revue, on Sunday, June 7 at 3:00 PM. The show will be performed by the Hill Country Community Theatre Players and will feature songs from Broadway hits that have been produced at HCCT over the past 30 years.
