HCCT Announces 2015-16 Season

Hill Country Community Theatre is pleased to announce its 2015-16 season. Featuring five productions, the season includes the comedy Cookin' with Gus, a holiday production of Dashing Through The Snow, the suspense thriller Dial "M" For Murder, the comedy A Little Off the Top, and the classic musical Annie Get Your Gun. This marks HCCT's 30th anniversary as a destination for exhilarating performances and entertaining theatrical experiences.

"I am delighted to announce the five productions in our 2015-16 season," said Mike Rademaekers, HCCT's executive director. "Our Play Reading Committee worked very hard to make these choices. We put a lot of thought into the types of shows our audience prefers and requests, as well as shows that are right for our local talent pool. We feel we have chosen a dynamic and adventurous season for our stage."

HCCT opens its 2015-16 season in September with playwright Jim Brochu's Cookin' with Gus. In this comedy, Gussie, a cookbook author, is offered her own cooking show - but she can't open her mouth in front of a camera! Her husband tries to help through hypnotism, her wacky neighbor by casting spells. Just when she thinks she's cured, the taping turns into a comic ordeal.

During December's celebrations, HCCT will produce Dashing Through The Snow by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten. This yuletide treat features a parade of eccentric guests who arrive at the Snowflake Inn and deck the halls with holiday hilarity. From the team that brought you Christmas Belles, The Dixie Swim Club, and The Hallelujah Girls, this Jones, Hope, Wooten comedy is more fun than a joyride in a one-horse open sleigh! Made into the classic movie by Alfred Hitchcock, the spine-chilling play Dial "M" for Murder by Frederick Knott follows in February. Ex-tennis pro Tony Wendice decides to murder his wife for her money and because she had an affair the year before. He blackmails an old college associate to strangle her, but when things go wrong, he sees a way to turn events to his advantage.

In April, from Texas-based playwright Carl L. Williams comes the hysterical comedy A Little Off the Top. Steve and Jerry, two balding bachelors, find the perfect toupee to attract women, and decide to take turns wearing it. The toupee gives them confidence, and they soon meet two lovely women. With two bald men and just one toupee, things get a bit hairy for Steve and Jerry.

HCCT previously produced Williams' award winning Under a Cowboy Moon. HCCT patrons have long requested Irving Berlin's Annie Get Your Gun. In July 2016, theatregoers will get their wish when this outstanding classic musical will be performed. Herbert Fields and Dorothy Fields tell the story of Annie Oakley who is the best shot around. Buffalo Bill persuades this sharpshooter to join his Wild West Show. She falls for dashing shooting ace Frank Butler, who headlines the show, and soon eclipses him. Butler joins a rival show but is pitted against Annie in a final shoot-out.

The Hill Country Community Theatre celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Founded in 1985 by Gigi Fischer and Phyl Holbert, the theatre has mounted over 150 productions. For a few years, performances were held in several different locations, including Marble Falls High School and the Cottonwood Shore Fire Department. In 1990, a building that was once a boat dealership in Cottonwood Shores was acquired and was converted into a venue that has been the home for HCCT for the past 25 years.
