The International Festival of Arts & Ideas today announced complete details for Festival 2019, which opens on June 8 and continues for two weeks through June 22 in New Haven, Connecticut.

Directors and Casting is set for the two PlayGround Festival premieres, A HISTORY OF FREAKS by Katie May, May 13-June 15  (Press /Opening: May 15 at 8pm), helmed by circus arts performer and director Doyle Ott and ANNA CONSIDERS MARS by Ruben Grijalva,  May 20-June 16 (Press /Opening: May 22 at 8pm), helmed by San Francisco Playhouse Producing Director Susi Damilano. The 2019-2020 Broadway season at the Peace Center is the biggest yet, with a record 11 shows, including the 2018 Tony Award winners for Best Musical (The Band's Visit) and Best Revival of a Musical (Once on This Island).

A special performance Celebrating Cole Porter - YOU'VE GOT THAT THING will be presented at The Triad Theatre (158 West 72nd Street - off Broadway between Broadway & Columbus Ave) on Saturday, March 30th at 9:30 pm. The production celebrates the life of musical prodigy, Cole Porter, with those who knew him best: his muse Ethel Merman (Analisa Bell), his wife Linda (Alexandra Foley) and Edward, a young writer who embodies the essence of all his male lovers (Quinn Martin). Featuring classics like Anything Goes, Let's Do It, Let's Fall In Love, Night and Day, and, of course, You've Got that Thing!. This delightful show has humor, pathos, and of course those glorious songs. Tickets are $20 and there is a two drink minimun and a small facility fee. Premium packages are also available.

Multi-award winning Foothill Music Theatre presents Bullets Over Broadway The Musical, the Tony Award-nominated musical based on Woody Allen and Douglas McGrath's screenplay for the hit film Bullets over Broadway. A love letter to the golden age of Broadway, Bullets Over Broadway The Musical brings the classic musical comedy back with a bang. Loaded with the songs that made the 1920s roar, this splashy musical features Jazz Age standards including 'Let's Misbehave,' ''Tain't Nobody's Biz-ness If I Do,' "Tiger Rag," and 'Up a Lazy River.' In this madcap comedy, a young playwright finally gets his play produced on Broadway, but discovers there's a catch: the mobster putting up the funds wants a vehicle for his ditzy, talent-free girlfriend. Throw in an aging diva, dancing gangsters, and a bevy of beautiful chorus girls, and comedic capers ensue. The 17th Annual Garden State Film Festival welcomes back renowned Casting Director/Producer Donna McKenna, who will be hosting an 'OPEN TALENT CASTING CALL' on Saturday March 30th, from 9:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at the Jersey Shore Arts Center, 66 South Main Street, Ocean Grove, Forties Room - 2nd Floor.

The Little Door Theatre is tackling a new endeavor with their first full-length Theatre for Young Audiences production of The Snow Queen that runs February 22nd through March 3rd at the theatre in Warren. Based on the beloved Hans Christian Anderson tale, kids of all ages will be delighted by The Snow Queen, a heartwarming story of friendship, love, and coming age. The audience joins Gerda as she sets out to save her best friend, Kai, from the icy hand of the Snow Queen. Along the way, Gerda encounters robbers, witches, royalty and a talking reindeer as her adventures take her closer to saving her friend. BroadwayWorld Detroit had a chance to speak with Shannon Hurst, The Snow Queen's director and Little Door Theatre's owner and artistic director, about the show, what it takes to put on a youth theatre play, and what type of magic audiences can expect in The Snow Queen.
