The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), in cooperation with J&S Productions Inc., is casting for the acclaimed Filipino opera, 'Noli Me Tangere,' based on Dr. Jose Rizal's famous novel, featuring the music by Felipe de Leon and libretto by Guillermo Tolentino. Directed by New York-based event designer Jerry Sibal, with veteran actor-director Jose Jeffrey Camañag as his co-director, the beloved operatic masterpiece, the Philippines' first full-length opera, returns to the CPP Main Theatre on March 8-10, 2019, in celebration of the cultural center's 50th anniversary.

Chaplin's Smile will be performed on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 12:15pm at the Chicago Cultural Center, presented by Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concerts, and later that day at 6:30pm in a free concert at the Chicago Women's Athletic Club.

From Wednesday, February 6 through Thursday, February 14 BAM presents Race, Sex & Cinema: The World of Marlon Riggs, the first stop in an ongoing, international celebration of the groundbreaking artist. Riggs (1957-94) was an American filmmaker, professor, poet, and gay rights activist, who wrote, produced, and directed provocative, formally innovative meditations on representation, race, gender, and sexual identity in American culture. Organized by BAM's senior repertory and specialty film programmer Ashley Clark in collaboration with documentary filmmaker and longtime Riggs collaborator Vivian Kleiman, the series marks the 25th anniversary of Riggs' death from AIDS-related complications, and the 30th anniversary of the premiere of his landmark work, Tongues Untied, a poetic reflection on the experiences of black, gay men in America.

On Friday, January 11, 2019, multiple Grammy Award-nominated violinist Philippe Quint makes his debut on Warner Classics with the release of his latest album Chaplin's Smile, a collection of Charlie Chaplin songs newly arranged for violin and piano. To commemorate the 130th anniversary of Chaplin's birth in 2019, Chaplin's Smile features Philippe Quint joined on two tracks by Quint's friend and frequent collaborator, violinist Joshua Bell. Over more than three years, Quint, in collaboration with arrangers Charles Coleman and Leon Gurvitch went through dozens of songs and soundtracks written by Chaplin to select the songs best suited for violin and piano.
