Mark DeGarmo Dance continues its annual Salon Performance Series 2019 with this April 4th performance, followed by Thursdays May 2 and June 6, all at 7 PM in the Mark DeGarmo Dance Studio 310 at the Clemente Soto Velez Cultural and Educational Center at 107 Suffolk Street on NYC's Lower East Side.   

Playwright Robert Harling's sharp, snappy, heart-wrenching, Louisiana-favored dialogue receives its most worthy due in this Actors Co-op production; cast with a spot-on ensemble of six amazing actresses, smoothly and expertly helmed by director Cameron Watson.

North Texas Performing Arts Repertory Theatre announces its all-female cast and crew production of 'Steel Magnolias' which focuses on the camaraderie of six Southern women who talk, gossip, tease and harangue each other through the best of times, and comfort and support one another through the worst. The play is alternately hilarious and touching with six female characters that are delicate as magnolias yet as strong as steel.

Now unfolding at New Theatre Restaurant in Overland Park is America's longest-running, non-musical, audience-involved, parody, murder-mystery play entitled “Shear Madness.” This show is deliberately beyond silly and peculiarly tailored to tickle local funny bones.

This fall the French Institute Alliance Francaise presents Pascal Greggory: Unsung Eros, a CineSalon series celebrating the work and film career of acclaimed actor Pascal Greggory from November 6 to December 18.

Based on a true story, Steel Magnolias features six strong, resilient women who bond over love, laughter, and loss. The show was written as a tribute to playwright Robert Harling's sister who passed away due to diabetes complications. The actors respond to events featuring life challenges over three years. Steel Magnolias takes the stage during their 29th year of touring at Popejoy Hall on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at 3 p.m. Directed by Brian Kite, the theatrical and film classic is set against the backdrop of the Louisiana Bayou in the 1980s. The performance begins when a group of women meets unexpectedly at Truvy's in-home beauty salon on the day of the Eatenton Wedding. Shelby, the bride, is in dire need of an up-do from Truvy. Although Shelby was cautioned against having children because she has Type 1 diabetes, she is determined to experience motherhood. Following Shelby's decision to have a child, her friends and family stand beside her to support her and her baby on the way. Steel Magnolias opened Off-Broadway in 1987 prior to the launch of a U.S. national tour in 1989. Since then, the show has performed worldwide in the U.K., Ireland, Japan, Poland, and Sweden. The cast includes Inger Tudor (Goliath and The Social Network), Cerris Morgan-Moyer (Spider-Man: Homecoming), Monica McSwain (Red Eye), Patti Yasutake (Star Trek and Grey's Anatomy), Shannon Holt (Judgment at Nuremberg), and Elisa Bocanegra (Gilmore Girls and Undecided). Steel Magnolias is an L.A. FX has renewed the groundbreaking dance musical series Pose, it was announced today by John Landgraf, CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions. The second season of Pose will debut in 2019 on FX.

Tom Gold, founder and director of Tom Gold Dance, will create a new work entitled Blind Revelry for The Classical World in Modern Choreography, an evening of dance at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston in conjunction with an exhibition of the Farnese Sarcophagus (c. 225 CE), Thursday, May 17, at 7PM in the Museum's Calderwood Hall.

Robert Harling's STEEL MAGNOLIAS is a 1987 comedy drama about the bond amongst a group of Southern women in northwest Louisiana and is based on his experience with his sister's death. The title suggests that while women may be as delicate as magnolias they are also as tough as steel. The magnolia also specifically refers to a magnolia tree they are arguing about as the play begins.

Theaterlab will host the UK-based performance company Signdance Collective as they celebrate their 30-year anniversary with its international tour of Carthage/Cartagena by Obie Award-winning playwright Caridad Svich. Performances are July 19 through 21, 2017 at Theaterlab's Midtown loft space (357 West 36th Street, 3rd Floor, NYC).
