The McKittrick Hotel has announced its enigmatic theatrical spectacle Sleep No More is extended for the remainder of this year. Tickets are now on sale through January 5, 2020.

Today, the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival announced their public installation program for the 23rd edition of the city-wide event spanning the month of May 2019. Renowned American artist Carrie Mae Weems will create three separate site-specific installations at outdoor venues downtown, representing the first time she has shown her work at this scale in Canada. These installations are presented in conjunction with exhibitions at the CONTACT Gallery and the Art Museum at the University of Toronto.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company announced today the full casting for the world premiere of MS. BLAKK FOR PRESIDENT, co-written by ensemble members Tina Landau (SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical) and Tarell Alvin McCraney (Moonlight, Academy Award). Conceived by Tina Landau, she also directs this true and little-known Chicago story that will star Tarell Alvin McCraney as Ms. Joan Jett Blakk. Joining McCraney in the cast are Patrick Andrews, Molly Brennan, Daniel Kyri, Jon Hudson Odom and Sawyer Smith.

Today, Croatian mainstay Outlook Festival complete their line-up, announcing Mala & The Outlook Orchestra (rhythm section) as an addition to the already hefty opening concert. While Kingston revolutionary lyricist Kabaka Pyramid, bassline heroine Flava D and DJ Zinc (who has straddled the world of jungle and house for over two decades) all join for the main festival. Bristol based Black Butter originators My Nu Leng & Dread MC also add to an already heavyweight line up as the festival says goodbye to 10 whole years at Fort Punta Christo - this year's edition is set to be the best yet.

The Ford Theatres today announced the 2019 season of events at the John Anson Ford Theatres. The 2019 season will open on Saturday, April 27 with The Spring Quartet: Jack DeJohnette, Joe Lovano, Esperanza Spalding and Leo Genovese, who The Arts Desk described as "an expansive, freewheeling rampage, ideas flying out like sparks from a roaring fire," and will conclude on October 19 and 20 with a Dia de los Muertos Concert and Community Celebration. Field Medic, the moniker of Los Angeles-based folk artist Kevin Patrick, has just released 'used 2 be a romantic' from his forthcoming album fade into the dawn that will be released on April 19 via Run For Cover Records. The Fader premiered the song and said, 'It's the 27-year-old singer-songwriter's most complete and, in parts, surreally beautiful record to date — drifting off into lush acoustics more often than it relies on tinned noise, laced with twilit reflections on ruin without succumbing entirely to darkness.'

'This is a story of kings.' The opening line of playwright Ayad Akhtar's JUNK gives the audience an epic summary of what they're about to experience. Kings not determined by the biggest crown or most expansive army, but by the fullest pockets. Robert Merkin, played by Carlo Lorenzo Garcia, is one such king, though unconventional in that the lead character of Akhtar's longest work sees debt as an asset. Robert sits proudly on the cover Time Magazine, and he's ready to capitalize on his role as 'America's Alchemist'. Performer Garcia revels in all the teeth sucking, furtive gesticulating, and slick talking of a classic 1980's Wall Street yuppie.
