CHARLES BUSCH, author and star of such plays as Psycho Beach Party, Times Square Angel, The Lady in Question, Red Scare on Sunset, You Should Be So Lucky, Shanghai Moon and The Divine Sister brings his iconic Cabaret stylings to The COPA Palm Springs for two 'sure to be sell-out' performances, October 16 and 17 at 8:00 pm.   Born in New York City, he began his theatrical career shortly after graduating from Northwestern University in 1976.  After spending two years in Chicago working with different local theatre companies, he returned to his home town of New York City with a solo play called Hollywood Confidential, which he performed as a weekend late show at Charles Ludlam's Ridiculous Theatrical Company's theatre at One Sheridan Square.

In Psycho Beach Party, playwright Charles Busch tosses together a quirky melange of Gidget, Joan Crawford, beach parties, surfers, Hitchcock and slasher movies. The result is hilarious, campy and a lot of fun to watch. The show has delighted audiences since 1987. It has played off-Broadway, at international festivals and in community theaters.

With lazily leaning palm trees, fluffy beach towels and sunbathing teenagers in 1960s-era bikinis, the frigid stage of Columbus' Garden Theater is transformed into the sun-kissed surf and sand of a Malibu beach town in Charles Busch's "Psycho Beach Party."

Johnson (Bounce and Thunder, Seven11.2005). The reading, which is free and open to the public, takes place today, October 28th at 7:30pm in midtown Manhattan.

These, and more escapist romps with similar bizarre names, are the products of Charles Louis Busch, an American actor, playwright and female impersonator. Many of his works, including PSYCHO BEACH PARTY, which is now in production at Blank Canvas Theatre, were written specifically as vehicles for Busch and his camp style of acting.
