Artistic Director Marc Masterson and Managing Director James McNeel announced today a reimagined structure for its artistic department. The changes take advantage of recent vacancies to align its staffing model with the focus areas of its new strategic plan. The moves include the promotion of Clare Drobot to the role of Associate Artistic Director and Katie Trupiano as Education Director. In addition, two new positions have been filled with Rebekah Diaz joining the full-time staff as Community Engagement Officer and Monteze Freeland as Associate Producer.

Villanova Theatre will present Merrily We Roll Along, the last show of the 2019-2020 Season, directed by Valerie Joyce, running March 17-29. This production will also serve as the last production in Vasey Theatre (home to Villanova Theatre for nearly sixty years) before moving to the brand-new Center for Performing Arts on the opposite side of Lancaster Avenue for the 2020-2021 Season.

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that collaborate in innovative ways to develop, produce, and extend the life of new plays, announces the continuation of its 93rd Rolling World Premiere (RWP): Babel by Jacqueline Goldfinger. Babel was the winner of the 2017-2018 Smith Prize for Political Theater administered by NNPN, received the Generations Award from Boulder Ensemble Theater Company, and appeared on the 2019 Kilroys List. After starting its Rolling World Premiere began in Kansas City, MO at Unicorn Theatre Babel opens tomorrow at Philadelphia's Theatre Exile (February 13 - March 8). Then, the play will be seen at Ogden, UT's Good Company Theatre (March 26 - April 12), the Contemporary American Theater Festival in Shepherdstown, WV (July 10 - August 2), and Trenton, NJ's Passage Theatre (October 10 - 25), before ending its Roll in spring of 2021 at a theater to be named later.

WAM Theatre has announced the appointment of two new board members. Erica Barreto and Toni Buckley join Board President Wendy Healey, Vice President Arwen Lowbridge, Carolyn Butler, Margaret Fluhr, Ellen Ring, Diane Scott, and WAM Co-Founder and Producing Artistic Director Kristen van Ginhoven, as the Berkshire-based company starts its second decade.

Village Theatre kicks off the next series of Beta Productions with XY, a new musical written by Oliver Houser and developed and directed by Hunter Bird that runs at Village Theatre's First Stage Theatre in Issaquah from February 14 - 23, 2020. The production marks the beginning of an exciting collaboration between Village Theatre and Seattle Rep, who will continue development of the show in a future season.

The Stratford Festival's Laboratory is a hive of activity at the moment, with a number of Canadian theatre artists coming to Stratford to develop their work. They responded to a call for submissions made this past summer and are bringing their in-development work to the Festival as part of a new R&D residency program in the Lab.

Dialogues a?" Ilya Kabakov and Viktor Pivovarov: Stories About Ourselves, which delves into one of the hallmarks of unofficial Soviet art from the height of the Cold War, has been extended through May 17, 2020 at the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers. In addition, the exhibition is spotlighted during Art After Hours: First Tuesdays on February 4, from 5 to 9 p.m. The evening includes a tour led by guest curator Ksenia Nouril, a screening of the film Ilya and Emilia Kabakov: Enter Here, and live music by Central New Jersey musician and producer Brandon Broderick.
