LOST DOG's "searingly witty" (SeeingDance) 'Juliet & Romeo' opened to packed houses and critical acclaim at a two week run at Battersea Arts Centre in London earlier this year. Broadly based on Shakespeare's deeply pessimistic teenage love story, this "highly entertaining, extremely amusing and occasionally quite tender evening of theatre and dance" (Times) is performed by Lost Dog's Artistic Director Ben Duke and Solene Weinachter. This clever, funny production explores contemporary culture's celebration of youth and how it creates unrealistic expectations around love, sex and relationships. The Guardian described the show as "smart, subversive and sexy". (more...)

BWW Review: Halloween Comes Early with Kallor's FRANKENSTEIN and Poe in Green-Wood Cemetery
by Richard Sasanow - Oct 14, 2018

I grew up with many versions of the Frankenstein story--some with greater nods to Mary Shelley's novel than others--spending Saturday afternoons being scared witless and loving every minute of it. But I was changed forever by Mel Brooks' YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, making it hard to come to the story of monster and master today with fresh eyes and ears, no matter how serious the intentions. But Gregg Kallor's SKETCHES FROM FRANKENSTEIN, which played last week in the catacombs of Brooklyn's Green-Wood Cemetery, managed to do it. (more...)

BWW Review: BALLET BEING TRENDY. STARDUST AND BACH 25 BY COMPLEXIONS CONTEMPORARY BALLET at Bovard Auditorium USC
by Qianqian Xing - Oct 11, 2018

That is the freedom that I spoke about earlier. Never let the body restrict you. Human bodies have the potential to do anything, if we develop them correctly. Even the most inhuman pointe technique can be something extraordinarily modern. The time they spent on pointe, and the motions they created while en pointe were much longer and more challenging than those typically performed in classical ballet. (more...)

Delta Heavy and Everyone You Know Release New Single, 'Anarchy'
by TV News Desk - Nov 23, 2018

Never ones to play it safe, Delta Heavy are back with new single Anarchy, a collaboration with London-based brothers and RCA signees Everyone You Know. A rabble-rousing statement of intent, the record combines Delta Heavy's trademark stadium drum and bass energy with Everyone You Know's signature blend of punk, hip hop and 90s rave, which caught Delta Heavy's attention after receiving early support from the likes of Jack Saunders (BBC Radio One), Steve Lamacq (BBC 6Music), BBC Introducing and Spotify. The combination is an irresistible formula that is as much a dance floor slayer as a lyrical call to arms from a disaffected generation. Anarchy demands the listener sits up and takes notice, with lyrics resonating with clear-eyed, disillusioned young people everywhere, delivered with angst fuelled aggression. Including a refreshed artwork aesthetic hinting of a larger project that lurks imminently around the corner, the single follows a new chapter from Delta Heavy's debut LP Paradise Lost. (more...)
