Presented by Asian CineVision, the 42nd Asian American International Film Festival (AAIFF42), and taking place July 25 – August 3 in New York City, has announced its full film lineup. The first and longest running Asian interest film festival in the country, AAIFF42 will be presenting 12 narrative features, 9 documentary features, and 67 short films, from 19 countries.

Subjects such as love, anger, forgiveness, faith, maturity and death. The show is based on the ideas of prejudice and the separation of people because of their differences. It embraces the idea of looking past prejudice and fighting against inequality among people.

Northport's exquisite John W. Engeman Theatre does it again with a boffo incarnation of Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story. Running through March 3rd at the Long Island venue, the musical is strongly directed by Keith Andrews and boasts an absolutely stellar cast many of whom have been in previous productions of this show. While we know Buddy (along with a few of his friends) died young and tragically in a plane crash, Alan Janes has certainly created a joyous celebration of Buddy's life.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the Tony Award winning Best Revival will close this Sunday, January 6, 2019. When it closes this production will have played 29 previews and 458 performances. Once On This Island opened on December 3 at Circle in the Square Theatre (235 West 50th Street) to rave reviews.

As BroadwayWorld previously announced, Lea Salonga steps back into the role of Erzulie in Once On This Island, beginning today, December 27.

BroadwayWorld has learned that Michelle Williams has been advised by her doctors to take a leave of absence from performing. Lea Salonga, who originated the role in this production will play Erzulie from December 27 through its final performance on January 6.

The Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance, a program within the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts at Wayne State University, is thrilled to kick off our year-long 90 Years of Dance at Wayne celebration with the annual December Dance Concert, December 7 and 8 at Detroit's Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts.  This year's show promises diverse and moving works showcasing highlights of dance through the decades. Woodruff School ACE Music has announced Once on This Island Jr as their fall musical. Once on This Island Jr is a highly original theatrical adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's popular fairy tale, The Little Mermaid and the Tony-nominated Broadway musical by the legendary writing team, Ahrens and Flaherty. Through almost non-stop song and dance, this full-hearted musical tells the story of Ti Moune, a peasant girl who rescues and falls in love with Daniel, a wealthy boy from the other side of her island. When Daniel returned to his people, the fantastical gods who rule the island guide Ti Moune on a quest that will test the strength of her love against the powerful forces of prejudice, hatred and even death.

Amas Musical Theatre (Donna Trinkoff, Artistic Producer) in celebration of its 50thseason, will present The Algonquin Kid, a musical revue about growing up in the Algonquin Hotel, written by Michael Colby.

A mannequin manufacturer by day, James Chiao will be fulfilling his dream with the world premiere of his musical TENOR BY NIGHT September 22, 2018 at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood (with preview performances at the Rose Center Theater in Westminster, August 17 through 26). James took two subjects he's most familiar with (mannequins and singing) and mashed them together.
