Review: PRIMARY TRUST at Everyman Theatre

by Tina Collins - Feb 14, 2025

Eboni Booth’s Pulitzer Prize winning drama PRIMARY TRUST is a poetic meditation on resilience in the face of trauma and isolation. The pain at the center of the story is delivered quietly wrapped in a cozy package of charming characters living in the quaint town of Cranberry, New York  with the motto 'Welcome Friend, You're Right on Time!' Directed by Reginald L. Douglas, this moving production captures the heart of Booth’s play drawing the audience into its warm and wise embrace.

BWW Review: THE NEW COLOSSUS Awakes Audiences to the Universal Needs and Desires of all Immigrants

by Shari Barrett - Jan 16, 2020

With the topic of illegal immigration so prevalent in today's news, now is the perfect time to take a very personal look at the trials and tribulations of those who immigrated, both legally and illegally, to our country in THE NEW COLOSSUS, a new play co-written by The Actors' Gang ensemble and its Artistic Director Tim Robbins, who also directs the production. In it, twelve of the acting troupe's members tell their ancestors' stories, reflecting their great diversity, struggles and journeys from oppression to freedom, a real personal testament celebrating the courage and great character of the refugees who came to this country throughout the last 200 years.

by Christine Swerczek - Jan 10, 2018

THE KING AND I is bringing more than a great show to Omaha. Jose Llana, who stars as the King of Siam, says, 'I think it's healthy to have conversation, especially in this political climate, when the country is so divided to tell a story about a world leader extending a hand of friendship to a person from another country. BWW Review: CANTANDO NA CHUVA (Singin' In The Rain) Gives Brazil a Shower of Joy

by Claudio Erlichman - Aug 17, 2017

Cantando Na Chuva (Singin' in the Rain) is set in the roaring '20s and silent movie stars are the biggest names in the world. Don Lockwood (Jarbas Homem de Mello) has it all, a string of hit films and a studio-engineered romance with the most beautiful actress in town, Lina Lamont (Claudia Raia). But with the new phenomenon of the talking picture on the way and a chance meeting with Kathy Selden (Bruna Guerin), a talented young chorus girl set to steal his heart, things are about to change for Don and for Hollywood forever. With all the charm, romance, comedy and tinsel town glamour of one of the world's best-loved films, Cantando Na Chuva songs include Good Morning, Make 'em Laugh, Moses Supposes and the legendary Singin' in the Rain.

BWW Review: TALLEY'S FOLLY, a Tale of Love Overcoming Prejudices and Uncertainty, at Actors' Summit

by Roy Berko - Apr 18, 2016

Theatre, as do all of the arts, represents the era from which it comes or is written about. For example, Lanford Wilson's TALLEY'S FOLLY places the spotlight on Missouri in 1944, the border state that, until this day, is noted for its laws and customs regarding prejudice against Jews, Catholics and Blacks (e.g. the Ferguson incidents). It also showcases many of the feelings of border Southerners regarding 'proper' etiquette, the sanctity of the roles that women are to play in society, and the power of gossip. All this is folded into a charming tale.
