The New York Philharmonic will present Bernstein's Philharmonic: A Centennial Festival, October 25-November 14, 2017,celebrating the former Philharmonic Music Director and Laureate Conductor on the centennial of his birth. The festival - which is part of the worldwide salute to the legacy of the renowned composer, conductor, pianist, and educator - will center on Bernstein's symphonic cycle, conducted by Alan Gilbert and Leonard Slatkin, complemented by other Bernstein works as well as by music by composers he admired and championed. In addition, the Philharmonic will present a Young People's Concert - the series that Bernstein famously brought to national attention through the television broadcasts - titled Inspirations and Tributes: "Celebrating Leonard Bernstein," conducted by Leonard Slatkin and featuring pianist Makoto Ozone on November 11. A number of other events - ranging from a marathon of Bernstein's Mahler recordings to a partnership with Harvard and University of Michigan to explore Bernstein as an educator and conductor - complement the concerts throughout the centennial season. Bernstein served as the Philharmonic's Music Director from 1958 to 1969, when he was named Laureate Conductor, a title he held until his death in 1990.

Ambassador Theatre Group and NETworks Presentations LLC announce the national tour of the Lincoln Center Theater Production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's THE KING AND I will make its New Orleans premiere at the Saenger Theatre Nov. 14 - 19, 2017. Presented by the New Orleans Theatre Association, THE KING AND I is part of the East Jefferson General Hospital Broadway in New Orleans 2017-2018 season.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley kicks off its 48th season with the World Premiere of The Four Immigrants: An American Musical Manga. Drawn from one of the first ever graphic novels, set to an infectious ragtime and vaudeville score by local composer/lyricist Min Kahng, the comic musical follows four Japanese immigrants in a world of possibility and prejudice: turn-of-the-twentieth-century San Francisco. MY DEAR WATSON, a Sherlock Holmes musical, is an official selection of the 2017 New York Musical Festival. The production will be funded in part by The Conan Doyle Estate, the family estate of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who wrote the Sherlock Holmes stories from 1887 to 1927.

Broadway's "Phantom," Ciaran Sheehan, returns to Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston to take on the role of GAYLORD RAVENAL in Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II's 1927 masterpiece Show Boat. Running from July 6-16 for 8 performances only, Show Boat will also star Boston's own Sarah Oakes Muirhead (Sunday in the Park with George) as MAGNOLIA HAWKS. 

The sequel to the Harry Potter universe's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has commenced filming according to The Hollywood Reporter. Eddie Redmayne returns to star and will be joined by Johnny Depp as Grindewald and Jude Law as young Albus Dumbledore.
