New England Conservatory has announced their spring 2022 Season. Highlights include NEC Wind Ensemble and Choirs offer a 50th anniversary celebration of the Wind Ensemble by presenting Igor Stravinsky's 'Symphony of Psalms,' and the world premiere commission of Chris Brubeck's first wind ensemble piece, 'Fifty'.

Legends in Concert, the longest-running show on the Las Vegas Strip, returns to its legendary home in the Legends in Concert Theatre at Tropicana Las Vegas, to kick-off the 2022 season with a diva-filled Legendary line-up. Starting February 2, audiences will experience the music of amazing female superstars, as they take the stage to pay homage to some of the greatest artists in music history. 

Actor/cabaret singer Stephanie Trudeau will return to Don't Tell Mama, 343 W. 46th Street, on December 30 at 7:00 PM in the updated version of her docu-cabaret musical, 'Becoming Chavela.'  Written and performed by Ms. Trudeau, the piece is more than just a musical cabaret based on the songs of legendary Mexican singer Chavela Vargas. 

Tonight, NBC will air its sixth live musical production. Following in the footsteps of The Sound of Music, Peter Pan, The Wiz, Hairspray, and Jesus Christ Superstar, the peacock network will be presenting Annie. Based on Harold Gray's comic strip titled Little Orphan Annie, this musical tells the story of a little orphan with equal measures of pluck and positivity who charms everyone's hearts, despite a next-to-nothing start in New York City in the year 1933.

Mabou Mines today announces its Winter/Spring 2022 season, with the iconic company re-engaging its past to celebrate its 50th anniversary—and presenting new work that continues to vitally push the boundaries of theatrical experience.

Billy, Klea and Jim are back for a twelfth year with their smash-hit holiday show... and lots of Christmas lights.

The show by actor/playwright Terry Ray is set in a motel room, and the first two years were actually performed at INNDulge in a motel room with an audience of 20 serving as flies on the wall, watching the action.  Fortunately, the show has transferred to Oscar’s dinner theatre in the middle of town which enables about triple the audience, comfortable tables and chairs, and some really terrific food!

Sharing views not only on the current Broadway and Off-Broadway scenes, but offering an appreciative spotlight to Off-Off Broadway artists and other lesser-known entertainers who are just as important in making New York the nation's live performing arts capital. To encourage rather than critique.

One of the songs from the project, 'Pura Vida', particularly caught my attention. It is about environmental preservation and nature. Pura Vida literally means 'pure life', but in Costa Rica it's like a motto; it's an expression used in almost every conversation. It means that everything is fine, but it can also mean thank you. When I first listened to the song I wondered if Jonathan Larson had ever been to Costa Rica. How did he come up with the phrase?

The Echo Theater Company’s world premiere production of POOR CLARE will finally open in October (now already in previews), 19 months after the originally scheduled March 2020 opening was shuttered by the pandemic. Playwright Chiara Atik spins the medieval story of St. Francis Assisi into a modern tale seen through the eyes of his sister Clare Assisi.  Echo associate artistic director Alana Dietze directs the POOR CLARE cast of Kari Lee Cartwright, Martica De Cardenas, Tony DeCarlo, Ann Noble, Michael Sturgis and Donna Zadeh, with Jordan Hull as the titular Clare.

Led by Founding Artistic Director Anne Marie Ketchum, the Verdi Chorus is the only choral group in Southern California that focuses primarily on the dramatic and diverse music for opera chorus. 

In 1983, Sally Ride, or as proclaimed in the play, “She should be called Dr. Ride,” an Astrophysicist became the first and youngest American woman in Space aboard the Orbiter Challenger. Liza Birkenmeier’s play is not about Sally Ride, even though her name is mentioned throughout the 85 minutes. However, under the veil of the ’80s in St. Louis, Missouri we meet four women living out their lives and by a matter of opinion telling stories that boldly go where none of them have gone before so to speak. At its heart, Birkenmeier’s script is compelling, enlightening, and stunning from top to bottom, a true marvel of live theatre. In her script, we get to meet characters that are not as often displayed on-stage, and that is what makes this show so endearing. Being that this show is set in the 80’s smartphones, and other things like social media, don’t exist yet; which renders the compelling humanity shown throughout the script. It’s a breath of fresh air as we learn of these women, and how they may or may not enjoy their current way of life, and yet so different in a matter of opinions and lifestyle they are all one and the same.

Performance artist John Fleck will present four live, work-in-progress performances of his musical cabaret/special event it’s alive, IT’S ALIVE! at the Odyssey Theatre starting September 18th. Concord Theatricals has announced that a one-hour version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s international musical phenomenon CATS has been released to schools and children’s theaters in North America.

Resilience is an exhibition of 20 works of photographic art – among them 19 never-before shown and one exhibited in London earlier this year – that will be previewed at the NHM Saturday, Sept. 25.  

A group of Styx fans have organized an online petition lobbying the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame to recognize the '70s and '80s superstars by inducting them. Styx released their self-titled debut album in 1972 and first became eligible for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.

Paula Poundstone, whose razor-sharp improv skills have delighted comedy audiences for nearly 40 years, brings her acclaimed one-woman show to the A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts on October 21.

Also available is a vinyl reissue of the original 13-track album, featuring freshly remastered favorites like “American Music” and the band’s inspired cover of Culture Club’s “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me.”

The Actors’ Gang Theater has just begun streaming their live virtual production of WE LIVE ON, based on the 1970 Hard Times by Studs Terkel.
