Opera Atelier's founding co-artistic directors Marshall Pynkoski and Jeannette Lajeunesse Zingg today announced that the company will tour to Chicago as part of the Harris Theater for Music and Dance's 2018-19 season. Opera Atelier's French Baroque double bill of Charpentier's Acteon paired with Rameau's Pygmalion will embark on an international tour to the Harris Theater (Nov. 15-17, 2018) and the Palace of Versailles (Nov. 30-Dec. 2, 2018), following its run at Toronto's Elgin Theatre (Oct. 25-Nov. 3, 2018). Opera Atelier's longtime partners Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra will join the company on tour.

For more than thirty years, Turtle Island Quartet has reinvented the role of the modern string quartet through its Grammy-winning albums and arrangements. This spring, the Quartet honors the impact of legendary saxophonist Charlie Parker with a new album, Bird's Eye View, out February 9, 2018 from Azica. The Quartet will celebrate with a CD release concert at Buck's County Playhouse (70 S. Main Street, New Hope PA 18938) on February 10, 2018 at 8 pm. The genius of Parker's improvisations almost single-handedly catapulted jazz from pop style into art music, indelibly altering the musical landscape of America. 'Urinetown: The Musical' opened on Broadway in 2001, but its path from lyricist Greg Kotis traveling Europe, encountering a pay toilet, getting an idea for a story, joining with Mark Hollman, writing the lyrics together, Hollman writing the music, previewing the show at the New York's Fringe Festival, and getting it on Broadway, was filled with pitfalls. Mainly, producers were turned off by the title.
