In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Folger Theatre is altering the programming schedule for its 2020/21 'On the Road' season of plays. In working to ensure the well-being and safety of patrons, Folger Theatre, along with its project partners the National Building Museum and the University of South Carolina, have made the decision to postpone the 2020 summer production of A Midsummer Night's Dream and the National Building Museum's Summer Block Party, featuring the Folger Shakespeare Playhouse, to Summer 2021.

On Monday, March 2, at 6 p.m. Asolo Repertory Theatre welcomes audiences to its new 'black box'-style theatre for The German Party, the inaugural production of the new Asolo Rep Ground Floor Series. The one-performance-only events will feature diverse dramatic, movement and musical pieces in an intimate and versatile new performance space located within the FSU Center for the Performing Arts.

The production is directed by Rosa Joshi (co-founder of Seattle's upstart crow collective theater company in Seattle; Henry V and As You Like It at Oregon Shakespeare Festival), who makes her DC directorial debut at the Folger.

The University of Hawai'i at Mānoa's Department of Theatre and Dance and Kennedy Theatre will be hosting a celebration of the life and career of Terence a?oeTerrya?? Knapp on Saturday, October 19, 2019. Doors will open at 5:00pm, participants will be welcome to visit with one another on the upper lanai; the formal Celebration will begin at 5:30pm in the Kennedy Theatre auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.

The Merry a?" Go a?" Round Playhouse is now enchanting audiences with a breathtaking production of Grand Hotel the Musical. Director Brett Smock's productions often are memorable and this one is no exception. With the lavish set, spot on casting, and impressive choreography this production is one of the top productions I've seen presented at The Merry - Go a?" Round Playhouse.

I have visited Laguna Beach for several consecutive summers, enjoying the vibrant arts scene by spending a full day wandering through THE SAWDUST FESTIVAL, THE LAGUNA ART A-FAIR, FESTIVAL OF ARTS and PAGEANT OF THE MASTERS, with all sites, including the Laguna Playhouse, within walking distance of each on the main street into the city. The beautiful coastal city has so much to offer in the way of fine dining, art galleries, shopping, theatre, beach activities, all accessible via a free shuttle service, it would easily make for a wonderful week-long family vacation site or a jam-packed day of celebrating the arts.

Centenary Stage Company announces 2019/20 season of events with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Darlene Love slated to kick off the season. Now available to Season Subscribers the 2019/20 season features a host of professional theatre productions including the return of Centenary Stage Company's popular Fringe Festival, the January Music Festival highlighting an array of top tier musicians, as well as a vast selection of dance events featuring premiere professional dance companies. The 2019/20 season of events is now available for Season Subscribers only.  Individual ticket sales will be available to the general public beginning July 1, 2019.

The French Institute Alliance Fran aise (FIAF) honors the great French composer Michel Legrand, who died in January this year, with a special Cin Salon series devoted to his life and work. Curated by one of his longtime collaborators and greatest interpreters, singer and actress Melissa Errico, Summer of Michel Legrand brings together seven of his films from his best known triumphs such as The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and The Young Girls of Rochefort to lesser known gems such as the enchanting fairy-tale musical Donkey Skin. Screenings take place on Tuesdays in July at 4pm and 7:30pm in FIAF's Florence Gould Hall.

Native Harrow, the nom de plume of singer-songwriter Devin Tuel, have shared the music video for their song 'Way To Light', the final track off their new albumHappier Now, out now in North America via Different Time Records. The band also recently penned a deal with UK-based label Loose Music to release the record in Europe and the UK on August 2, 2019.

The Folger Shakespeare Library will host the DC premiere of Ghost Light, a new dark comedy by filmmakers John Stimpson and Geoffrey Taylor. The film, a Feature Film Award-winner at the Austin Film Festival, will be shown in the historic Folger Theatre located on Capitol Hill. Folks Operetta continues its Reclaimed Voices Series with Paul Ábraham's exotic jazz operetta, The Flower of Hawaii featuring soprano and former Ms. Illinois Marisa Bucheit (2014) as Princess Laya/Suzanne. 

Young People's Theatre Workshop (YPTW) presents the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical State Fair on stage at the Players Club of Swarthmore May 24 to June 2. The State Fair cast includes 60 talented performers, ages 8-18, from the Philadelphia regional area. Show dates are May 24, 25, and June 1 at 7:30 p.m., May 27 at 6 p.m., May 28 and 30 at 7 p.m. and May 26 and June 2 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15, and all seats are reserved. It's all about the words, words, words for director Vivienne Benesch as she prepares to make her Folger Theatre debut with a new 1930s-styled production of Love's Labor's Lost.

With 'velvet stairs, easy chairs, and perfumed air gently blowing,' the Grand Hotel Berlin may not be a character in the traditional meaning of the word, however, it is the catalyst which sets in motion the fate of every guest who walks through its opulent revolving doors. For choreographer Kelly Crandall d'Amboise, it is her job to provide that motion as the production begins performances this week at Signature Theatre.

Mind vs. Matter. Game on. Folger Theatre concludes its 2018/19 season of characters that "shake the world" with Love's Labor's Lost, Shakespeare's quick-witted comedy filled with oaths, trickery, and confessions of love. Vivienne Benesch, the 2017 winner of the annual Zelda Fichandler Award, makes her Folger directorial debut.
