American Conservatory Theater Associate Artistic Director Andy Donald announced today that three-time Emmy Award winning comedian Louie Anderson will bring his New York Times best-selling memoir Dear Dad to A.C.T.'s Strand Theater (1127 Market Street) in an exclusive San Francisco engagement January 10 14, 2018. Whether he's portraying Zach Galifianakis's mother on the FX hit Baskets or winning over audiences worldwide with his unique brand of stand-up, iconic comedian Louie Anderson has inspired and entertained with his inimitable brand of humor and warmth. In his one-man show, Dear Dad, Anderson recounts his unique upbringing through the touching and outrageous letters he wrote to his late father. In this new work in progress a journey full of laughs, love, and possibilities audiences will have the opportunity to see one of today's top comedians share this powerful story in the intimate Strand Theater. Dear Dad is presented as part of A.C.T.'s @TheStrand series.

LETTERS FROM HOME marks the most personal reveal/presentation that writer/actress/singer Kalean Ung has ever undertaken. Based on her family history in Cambodia, specifically during the Khmer Rouge regime in the late 1970s, Kalean explores her relatives' struggles and eventual rescue, while also describing her own experiences of growing up bi-racial and first generation in Southern California. Kalean most graciously and quickly responded to my probing inquiries.

American Composers Orchestra (ACO) announces its complete 2017-2018 season, Dreamscapes, under the leadership of Artistic Director Derek Bermel, Music Director George Manahan, and President Edward Yim, featuring ten world, U.S., and New York premieres by a diverse set of composers. Bob Ost & Wildly Productive Productions and Xoregos Performing Company, with generous support by Granite Hills Press and The Confucius Institute of San Diego University, are thrilled to announce that Romance of the Western Chamber, a musical adaptation (in English) of the fabled Chinese classic Xi Xiang Ji, will make its U.S. Premiere this fall. The production will play a strictly limited engagement of 14 performances, beginning Thursday, September 14 at TADA! Theater (located at 15 W. 28th Street, 3rd Floor), with opening night scheduled for Saturday, September 16, 2017. Performances will take place according to the following schedule: Thursdays & Friday at 8:00pm; Saturdays at 2pm & 8pm; and Sundays at 3pm.
