Last summer, a group form the Ohio Humanities Council visited Piqua to consider it as one of their Ohio Chautauqua sites for 2017.  Unfortunately, they were not selected, but they did encourage the group to develop their own Chautauqua event.  Well, give folks from Piqua a challenge and they deliver.  So a dedicated committee officially began working on Piqua Chautauqua! The dates for this event will be September 19, 20 & 21, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. and will take place at Hance Pavilion, located in Fountain Park in Piqua.

Country star Josh Turner brings his deep baritone voice and high-energy performance style, to close out the summer season at the St. Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights Concert Series, on the Deer Valley Resort stage, Sunday, September 3 at 7pm.

HERE begins its 2017-2018 producing season with Stairway to Stardom, a world premiere Resident Artist production by Amanda Szeglowski / cakeface, commencing the 25th Anniversary of this award-winning, boundary-stretching institution. Stairway to Stardom, developed through the HERE Artist Residency Program (HARP), will have 10 performances from September 12 - 23 at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue, just below Spring Street), launching this milestone season.

American Composers Orchestra (ACO) announces its complete 2017-2018 season, Dreamscapes, under the leadership of Artistic Director Derek Bermel, Music Director George Manahan, and President Edward Yim, featuring ten world, U.S., and New York premieres by a diverse set of composers. ACO continues its concerts at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall (December 8, 2017 and April 6, 2018) while expanding its presence in New York to include performances at Jazz at Lincoln Center (November 7, 2017) and as part of the 2018 PROTOTYPE Festival (January 12-14, 2018). ACO continues to take its commitment to fostering new work beyond the stage in its annual Underwood New Music Readings (June 21 and 22, 2018) for emerging composers, now in its 27th year, and through EarShot, the National Orchestra Composition Discovery Network, which brings the Readings experience to orchestras across the country.

Broadway's Kate Shindle---currently traveling the country playing Allison Bechdel in the first national tour of the Tony Award-winning musical FUN HOME---is not only an accomplished singer, actor and dancer, she is also a published author and an outspoken activist. In 2015, Shindle was also elected president of Actors' Equity Association. But before FUN HOME makes its OC debut August 1 - 6 at Costa Mesa's Segerstrom Center for the Arts, Shindle chatted with BroadwayWorld's Michael L. Quintos about her role in this groundbreaking musical, being AEA President, and what her life has been like on the road!

Highlights include Argentine folk from Mavi Diaz & Las Folkies with special guest Maria Volonte on July 19; Cuban son ensemble El Septeto Santiaguero on July 28; That's Not Tango celebrating Astor Piazzolla on the 25th anniversary of his death on August 5 and 6; Patagonian trio Femina mixing Latin rhythms with international reggae and funk on August 10; Brazilian pop musician Aline Muniz, also on August 10; Brazilian jazz duo Livia Nestrovski & Fred Ferreira on August 11; and, Chicago mariachi ensemble Mariachi Herencia de Mexico on August 20.

From June 8 - 18, 2017, Houston Ballet caps its season with Stanton Welch's La Bayadere ('The Temple Dancer'), a historic classic set in royal India of the past.

GOOD MORNING, THEATERATI! It's Thursday, June 1, 2017 - or, as we like to call it #TheaterThursday, 'June is busting out all over…' as a song from Carousel reminds us, and there's no better way to kick off a new month than by planning our theater outings for the weekend! Tomorrow night at Cumberland County Playhouse, the company, cast and crew unveil the 2017 model of Smoke on the Mountain, which marks the 24th year of the musical playing in Crossville. Weslie Webster directs and her cast includes Daniel W. Black and Lauren Marshall as Sanders family father and mother Burl and Vera.

Theater fills the Lackland Performing Arts Center as Centenary Stage Company announces its 2017 - 18 professional theater line-up.  The Sitnik Theatre is set to burst as this season's main stage professional theater series includes four exciting CSC produced plays; The Learned Ladies, Newsies, Art and Hitler's Tasters.  Centenary Stage Company's Fringe Festival also welcomes three incredibly unique guest productions; Song and Dance Men, Seeger: A Multimedia Solo Show and My Name is Gideon: I'm Probably Going to Die, Eventually as the festival returns for its third installment in the Kutz Theatre.

Park City Institute Executive Director Teri Orr has announced the 2017 St Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights Concert Series at Deer Valley Resort. The announcement marks the 14th consecutive season of outdoor concerts presented by the Institute.
