I congratulate Everyman Theatre for presenting their initial Summer Cabaret which includes the stars from their wonderful production of LOS OTROS, Judy McLane and Philip Hernandez. The event will be at Everyman's intimate rehearsal hall Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.

On Friday, July 20th the board of the Provincetown Theater Foundation and their new artistic director, Obie Award winner David Drake, will present the first annual Provincetown American Playwright Award to Terrence McNally, the four-time Tony Award-winning playwright of such iconic plays and musicals as Master Class, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, Lips Together, Teeth Apart, The Full Monty, Ragtime, Kiss of the Spider Woman, and this summer's Cape Cod premiere of his masterpiece Love! Valour! Compassion! at the Provincetown Theater.

King of Cuba, a new comedy by award-winning writer Cristina Garcia, opens with a press night on Saturday, July 21, and runs through August 19 (previews July 19 & 20) at the historic Berkeley City Club. The summer adventure of the Central Works 2018 season King of Cuba, is developed by Ms. Garcia in the Central Works Writers Workshop featuring the lesbian-gender-bending comedian Marga Gomez, and the Grammy-winning "bongocero" Carlos Caro. All are Cubanx celebrities living in the Bay Area. Directed by Gary Graves, the full cast includes Marco Aponte, Leticia Duarte, Elena Garrity, Marga Gomez, Ben Ortega and Steve Ortiz.

Eryc Taylor Dance (ETD) will join Paul Taylor Dance and five other dance companies at "Dancers For Good" benefit evening at Guild Hall,158 Main Street in East Hampton, New York on Friday, July 20 at 7:00pm. It is the second consecutive year Eryc Taylor Dance will participate this fundraising event.

The play is set in Frankie's cramped Hell's Kitchen apartment, here Frankie and Johnny have repaired after a satisfactory first date. But after satisfying their mutual desires, they're soon saddled with violently diverging ones. Frankie is ready to withdraw back into her comfortable cocoon of emotional reticence; she wants him out, five minutes ago. Johnny is ready to sing an aria, to dance an endless pas de deux, to buy a tract house. He certainly isn't ready to go home.

The new production of Kander and Ebb's THE RINK is playing at Southwark Playhouse for a limited season from 25 May to 23 June 2018. The production stars Caroline O'Connor as Anna and Gemma Sutton as Angel, and features Stewart Clarke, Ross Dawes, Michael Lin, Elander Moore, Ben Redfern and Jason Winter as Dino, Lino, Lucky, Benny, Lenny and Tony respectively.

The 72nd Annual Tony Awards are this Sunday June 10th at 8/9c hosted by Josh Groban and Sara Bareilles. It's the biggest award show of the Broadway season and it closes out a long awards season for Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals and plays. We can't help but wonder what chances this year's Best Musical and Best Play nominees have of taking home the ultimate prize...

The company's Founding Artistic Director Fred Anzevino made the announcement today at a gathering of company donors and friends that served as a farewell to the No Exit Cafe at 6970 N. Glenwood Avenue.

Broadway legend Chita Rivera will be presented with a Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre at the 72nd Annual Tony Awards on June 10, 2018. This award recognizes theatre artists that have made significant contributions to theatre throughout their life.

BoHo Theatre has announced that Stephen Schellhardt will become BoHo's new Artistic Director beginning next season, which will begin in early 2019. Schellhardt has been the Artistic Associate with the company since 2015. He assumes the position from outgoing Artistic Director Peter Marston Sullivan, who will remain with BoHo as the new Artistic Associate.

The Muny announced today its full cast, design and production team for the theatre's centennial season production of The Wiz, June 19 - 25.

Underscore Theatre and The Den Theatre are pleased to present an all-new staging of the Jeff Award-nominated Best New Musical HAYMARKET (formerly Haymarket: The Anarchist's Songbook) the true story of Chicago's infamous Haymarket massacre. With book, music and lyrics by Alex Higgin-Houser and David Kornfeld, the actors accompany themselves to the stirring folk-infused score. On Friday, May 11, PBS will present an encore broadcast of their enormously successful Great Performances special Chita Rivera: A Lot of Livin' to Do, a career retrospective of the legendary theatrical icon. The program features interviews, archival performance footage and songs from Rivera's concert repertoire including such numbers as "A Boy Like That," "America," "A Lot of Livin' to Do," "All That Jazz," and "Nowadays."  The encore broadcast will air in the New York area on THIRTEEN/WNET Friday, May 11 at 10:00 PM ET. The legendary Broadway icon has just added another honor to her vast array. On Friday, May 4, Chita Rivera was awarded an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts Degree by the University of Florida, Gainesville, before thousands of graduating students and their families at the Class of 2018 Spring commencement. Rivera also presented a master class workshop to UF School of Theatre + Dance students and faculty following the graduation ceremony.
