Grease is the word at Starlight Theatre now through Thursday, Sept. 14. Broadway. The His and His series follows the development of LGBT characters on Broadway, and celebrates the artists who wrote the great works of musical theater.

FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW will be hosting a Reunion Concert of the 1971 Broadway musical, INNER CITY. The original Broadway production, directed by Tom O'Horgan, featured music by Helen Miller and lyrics by Eve Merriam.  The show was based on Merriam's book "The Inner City Mother Goose," a collection of updated nursery rhymes reflecting life of the disenfranchised inhabitants of America's urban inner cities circa 1970. The production ran at Broadway's Barrymore Theater from December 1971 to March 1972. Featured cast member, Linda Hopkins, was awarded a 1972 Tony Award for her performance.

Jesus Christ Superstar is a worldwide blockbuster that audiences have embraced for over 40 years. In its season finale, Stagecrafters offers a fresh perspective, reimagining the musical as played by a troupe of actors breaking into an abandoned theatre to re-enact the final days of Jesus Christ. All the while, the production illuminates the process of putting on a show, as audience members witness the actors' production coming together before their eyes.

n anticipation of high ticket demand, Lyric Opera of Chicago announced today that the initial block of tickets for its Spring 2018 production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar will be available for sale a year in advance, starting Today, March 9, 2017 at 10 a,m.

Custom Made Theatre Company opens its 18th season in San Francisco with Chess, the legendary rock opera from Tim Rice ("Evita","Jesus Christ Superstar") and Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, members of the celebrated pop group, ABBA. Set towards the end of the cold war, Chess uses politics and sport as metaphor for a love triangle between an enfant-terrible American superstar (loosely modeled on Bobby Fisher), his Hungarian-born lover/second, and a Soviet player looking to start a new life.

The British songwriting duo of Anthony Newleyand Leslie Bricusse, who together wrote some of the most enduring and loved songs of Broadway and Hollywood, will be celebrated in Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre's 2016 summer cabaret.

American Theater Company (ATC) opens musical comedy Xanadu, the final production of its Legacy Season, this Sunday, June 5. Presented as a tribute to ATC's late Artistic Director PJ Paparelli-a not-so-secret fan of this camp classic-Xanadu is directed by Lili-Anne Brown and runs at ATC now through July 17, 2016. The production has music and lyrics by Jeff Lynne and John Farrar and a book by Douglas Carter Beane, based on the 1980 Universal Pictures film of the same title.

Legendary theatrical sound designer Abe Jacob will be honored for his pioneering career achievements at the Live Design Awards on Monday, June 13 in New York. Another legendary icon, Chita Rivera, will present the award to Jacob, whom she has known since the original Broadway production of CHICAGO (1975).
