Pasadena Playhouse has announced the 2022/2023 Season featuring a six-month-long celebration of the works and impact of Stephen Sondheim.  The State Theater of California’s Sondheim Celebration will begin in January 2023 and extend into June.  Find out what shows are included and the full schedule.

TFANA has extended the run of Alice Childress’s Wedding Band, directed by Awoye Timpo, to May 22. (The production, which began previews April 28—postponed from an original date of April 23 due to two COVID-19 cases—was formerly set to close May 15).

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced the second season of The Refocus Project, its multiyear project to elevate and restore marginalized plays to the American canon.

Yale Repertory Theatre will conclude its 2022 season with Between Two Knees. The play, written by the intertribal sketch comedy troupe The 1491s and directed by Eric Ting, is presented with Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Between Two Knees will be performed May 12–June 4 at Yale Repertory Theatre (1120 Chapel Street).

TFANA will present Alice Childress’s Wedding Band. Director Awoye Timpo’s new staging, running April 23–May 15, brings Childress’s masterpiece to New York audiences for the first time since 1972, when it made its New York premiere in a production directed by Childress and Joseph Papp.

Pal Joey, the Rodgers and Hart-John O’Hara classic musical, has been revised in a brand-new production that will be heading to Broadway in the 2022-2023 season.

Bunnies tells the story of five Playboy Bunnies, who in 1973, at the New York Playboy Club, find themselves uplifted by the rise of feminism, haunted by the GoodBar murder and conflicted about their jobs as sex symbols, while they bond in humor and compassion over the course of one evening.

It has been reported that Jane Powell, star of numerous Golden Age Hollywood musicals, passed away this afternoon at her home in Wilton, CT. She was 92 years old. 

The first annual Seacoast Summer Reading Sessions comes to The Rochester Opera House's Historic Theater in Rochester, NH with satellite locations for writing workshops at  The Mark Baum Estate and an added reading and workshop at Wells Reserve at Laudholm.

The 2022 inductees for Hollywood's iconic Walk of Fame have been announced and among this year's star recipients are two-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone and late pop culture icon and Broadway playwright, Carrie Fisher.

A couple weeks ago, Carrie Fisher shut off the lights at a Rise of Skywalker press conference. Someone asked about how Princess Leia would be integrated into the new movie, and JJ Abrams said something about loving Carrie Fisher and something else about lights, and then there were no more lights. It was a spectral technical malfunction, a prank from beyond the grave, something wholly natural in its unnaturalness. Carrie Fisher, who died three years ago on Friday, was indisputably in the room.

Christmas Rappings is back in a very special 50th Anniversary concert production of this beloved Greenwich Village tradition-a Christmas oratorio unlike any other. Technically any venue with 500 seats or more, located along Broadway in New York City's Theatre District is a Broadway theatre, and the art that is produced in these special places is widely considered the highest form of theatrical entertainment in the world. Today, forty-one theatres are technically Broadway houses, each with their own rich history. In 1979 stage and screen star Debbie Reynolds founded the Debbie Reynolds Dance Studio in North Hollywood, which remained operational for decades to follow. Stars such as Bette Midler, Michael Jackson, and Mariah Carey all rehearsed there. Now, according to TMZ, the building has unfortunately been demolished.
