Veteran progressive activist and TV-film-stage producer Scott Robbe died on Sunday, November 21, 2021, according to a statement by Paul Algiers, a longtime friend and the executor of Scott Robbe's estate. Robbe was in hospice care at the home of his sister, Angela, in Hartford, Wisconsin.

Theatre West's Studio City-adjacent home on Cahuenga Blvd. West, the oldest continuous operating stage space in Los Angeles, has been saved by an anonymous “angel.” A longtime Theatre West patron has purchased the building, occupied by the company since 1967 but up for sale since May, and extended Theatre West's lease for a minimum of five years.

The film will reportedly begin following the death of Minnelli's mother, Judy Garland. It will then follow Minnelli on her rise to fame, beginning in the 1970s, and chronicling her various accolades, including an Oscar for best actress (Cabaret), an Emmy for best TV special (Liza with a Z), and a Tony for best actress in a musical (The Act).

Renowned songwriter, producer, and arranger Bob Esty died on September 27, 2019 in Los Angeles, after a short battle with metastatic cancer. He was 72.

The 2019 Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, today unveiled its feature film lineup. Continuing its tradition of elevating exceptional storytelling rooted in today's global film communities, the 18th annual Festival will showcase debut works from emerging talent and new works from notable filmmakers. The program includes discoveries, comedies, music-centered, political and social films. The 2019 Tribeca Film Festival takes place April 24 - May 5.  

Following a 36-city world tour, Ailey II Returns To NYU Skirball from March 13 – 17 for its annual New York season during Ailey's 60th Anniversary celebration. The renowned second company to Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will inspire audiences in dynamic works by some of today's most revered choreographers. Premieres by Uri Sands, Bradley Shelver, Ailey Artistic Director Robert Battle, and Ailey II Artistic Director Troy Powell will grace the stage, along with returning crowd-pleasers by Juel D. Lane, Renee I. McDonald, and Darrell Grand Moultrie.
