Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf is Edward Albee's first Broadway production and is considered now to be a contemporary American classic. Opening on Broadway on October 13, 1962, and starring Uta Hagen and Arthur Hill, the original productions received both critical acclaim and public scorn for its confrontational characters, bitter philosophy on love, and realistic quality on an aging couple with a dark past.

American Composers Orchestra (ACO) announces its complete 2017-2018 season, Dreamscapes, under the leadership of Artistic Director Derek Bermel, Music Director George Manahan, and President Edward Yim, featuring ten world, U.S., and New York premieres by a diverse set of composers. Quintessence Theatre Group, Philadelphia's classic repertory theatre, announces its eighth season of progressive classic productions.

Opened in 1928, the lavish Ohio Theatre was built to be a movie house, complete with an extravagant theatre organ to provide the soundtrack of the day's silent films. On July 20 and 21, the Ohio returns to its roots with the CAPA Summer Movie Series presentation of silent film The Freshman starring Harold Lloyd.

This year's Lifetime Achievement Award honorees are Shirley Caesar, Ahmad Jamal, Charley Pride, Jimmie Rodgers, Nina Simone, Sly Stone, and the Velvet Underground. Led by GRAMMY®-winning industry icon Paul Shaffer as musical director, the tribute concert will feature rare performances by honorees and never-seen renditions by those they've inspired.

The New York Times is reporting that Albee's museum-worthy collection of fine art, which includes works by Arp, Kandinsky, and more, will be sold at auction. The money will then be donated to The Edward Albee Foundation, an institution that provides residency to emerging artists in Montauk. The collection is valued at over $9 million.

Sharon Playhouse has announced complete casting for its 2017 Season.
