On Friday, May 22, 2020, GRAMMY-winning choir The Crossing, led by Donald Nally, releases CARTHAGE, an album featuring six striking pieces by composer James Primosch, on Navona Records. Internationally recognized and prolific, Primosch is the 2020 winner of The Virgil Thomson Award for Vocal Music from The American Academy of Arts and Letters.

When theatre and drag worlds collide, the resulting lovechild is Jackie Cox- a queen who has jokingly described her own drag style as 'fourth ensemble from the left in Promises, Promises.' Jackie is currently turkey-lurkeying for her life as a contestant on the 12th season of Rupaul's Drag Race, on which she is pulling from her theatrical bag of tricks to slay the competition.

Portland Center Stage at The Armory announced its 2020-2021 ten-show season, featuring music, humor, Tony Award-winning classics, and a Northwest Stories commissioned world premiere from nationally renowned playwright Lauren Yee.

Spinning Tree Theatre will conclude the 2019-20 season April 17 - May 3 with Broadway musical La Cage aux Folles. The 1983 musical, based on the 1973 French play of the same name by Jean Poiret, has music and lyrics by Jerry Herman and book by Harvey Fierstein. La Cage aux Folles won the 1984 Tony Award for Best Musical, and both Broadway revivals (2005 and 2010) won Tony Awards for Best Revival of a Musical.

The NY Kwanzaa Film Festival winner for Best Feature, 'Soul Doctor' will be screened at the Walton Theater (100 Selma Avenue) in Selma, Alabama on Sunday, March 1st at 4:30pm to celebrate Black History Monthand The Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee, commemorating 'Bloody Sunday,' when a group of about 525 African American demonstrators gathered at Browns Chapel to demand the right to vote.An event that led to the famous Selma Marches led by the late Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. which was a turning point in public support for the Civil Rights movement.

I'm only recently discovering my own musical identity outside of the things I listened to in my parents' cars growing up. I discovered The Secret Sisters around the same time I discovered horror movies, around the same time I discovered a new kind of higher-stakes storytelling. “You Don't Own Me Anymore” was a masterclass in harmony and tension. It was a collection of those kinds of higher-stakes stories; the haunting beauty of a song about murdering your child taught me more about writing a character than pretty much any play or movie or TV show I've ever watched; naming and admonishing Davey White on “He's Fine” showed me an unapologetic way to channel anger and heartbreak. The whole album shrieks unapology, except it's not shrieking; it's speaking quietly but pointedly, in harmony and in unity. The title song is anthemic. It's feminine angst; less loud but more directly expressive than any other album of its kind I'd ever heard.

Dates have been announced for the Waterbury return engagement of the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning hit musical JERSEY BOYS, the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. The musical will make its much-anticipated return to Waterbury to play the Palace Theater on March 17. Under the moniker Brothers Of A Feather, The Black Crowes, Chris and Rich Robinson, announce today a rare opportunity to see them perform stripped down versions of some of their classic songs. The intimate outing kicks off in London, UK on February 12 at the Omeara, with a final show of the run taking place at The Chapel in San Francisco. The Kwanzaa Film Festival presents a special Martin Luther King Jr. Day program, themed 'A Kwanzaa Response to a Hanukkah Tragedy' with a program that focuses on African American-Jewish Relations. The feature presentation is this year's 'Best Film' winner Soul Doctor - the Broadway movie-musical about the life of the 'rock star' rabbi Shlomo Carlbach and his history shaping relationship with music icon Nina Simone. TADA! Youth Theater will celebrate its 35th Anniversary Gala. This year's honorees are Jason Robert Brown and Georgia Stitt, and the TADA! Gala will be hosted by Tituss Burgess.
