As 2018 comes to a close, we are reflecting on those we have lost in the Broadway and theatre communities throughout the year.

For his fifth and final work with Shakespeare Theatre Company director Michael Khan, the playwright David Ives has not returned to rhyming couplet adaptations of French classics, as he did in 'The Liar,' 'The Heir Apparent,' 'The Metromaniacs' and 'the School for Lies.'

The ASPECT Foundation for Music & Arts continues its third New York City season of illuminating performances on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 7:30pm with Classical Vienna at Bohemian National Hall. The program features the acclaimed Orion String Quartet in Haydn's String Quartet Op. 50 No. 2 and Mozart's Clarinet Quintet in A major, K.581 performed with clarinetist Alexander Bedenko.

The nonprofit Sundance Institute announced today the showcase of new independent feature films selected across all categories for the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. The Festival hosts screenings in Park City, Salt Lake City and at Sundance Mountain Resort, from January 24 - February 3, 2019.

Prominent Los Angeles  playwright, Josefina Lopez, takes the stage at the Garry Marshall Theatre to dive into the important issues portrayed in Lopez's coming of age comedy, "Real Women Have Curves," with a  special post-show discussion series that begins Oct. 17. Free and open to the public, the series will be led by Lopez herself and feature panelists uniquely related to issues including immigration, retaining one's heritage and women's beauty standards-all prevalent themes in the iconic play, which is currently running at the Garry Marshall Theatre through Nov. 18.

Starting today, visitors to the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art can take advantage of budget-friendly admission prices through Friday, Oct. 26.

New Repertory Theatre, the professional theatre company in residence at the Mosesian Center for the Arts, announces that Artistic Director Jim Petosa will step down from his leadership position (held since 2012) at the end of the 2018-2019 Season. He will next direct We Will Not Be Silent, opening in October, which will be the last production he directs during his tenure as artistic director.

Hong Kong Repertory Theatre?In a seedy nursing home, two elderly residents befriend each other, passing time playing gin rummy. As the play unfolds game after game, they share stories of their past, shedding light on the many problems of aging in our society.

J'Mel Davidson held a very special light. He was extremely giving and quick to talk with great enthusiasm. He gave so much of that light to the world. He is a true testament to the power of laughter. His body may be gone. But his creative light still shines on in all that enjoyed him.

Performance Space New York Announces THE POSTHUMAN SERIES, its second themed season of performances and events, beginning Fall 2018. Following the conclusion of its East Village Series, which looked inward to contemplate the past, present and future of Performance Space New York and its immediate neighborhood, Executive Artistic Director Jenny Schlenzka now gathers artists who've taken an active approach to addressing nothing smaller than the morphing state of "humanity." Inspired by thinkers like Donna Haraway ("A Cyborg Manifesto") and Rosi Braidotti (The Posthuman), the Posthuman Series continues the legacy of Performance Space New York to defy categorization and broaden the meaning of "performance," through works that simultaneously seek to question and expand the very definition of "human."

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announces Flat Is Beautiful: The Strange Case of Pixelvision, August 10-16. 

Interrobang Theatre Project is pleased to announce its ninth season, featuring three knockout dramas presented at its new resident home, Rivendell Theatre, 5779 N. Ridge Ave. in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood. This season, Interrobang explores "identity/crisis," with three plays featuring characters on the edge of something new, battling old demons and making room for fresh starts.

The 1987 rom-com “Overboard,” starring Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, has been remade, and Natalie Morales caught up with stars Anna Faris and Eugenio Derbez. Faris reveals that “it felt terrifying” when Hawn and Russell took her to dinner to talk about the project, but adds that Hawn gave it their blessing.
