Inaugurated during the volatile and transformative late 1960s, the unconventional publication Blueprint for Counter Education introduced the tools for a radical transformation of liberal arts education. A project of Brandeis Sociology Professor and Chair Maurice Stein and his student, Larry Miller, this "classroom in a box" encouraged participants to shape an educational environment from their own lived experiences, bridging disciplinary divides to create a socially engaged mode of learning. Blueprint's open-ended charts mapped a world of ideas, from the avant-garde to the postmodern, in a form that presaged the Internet, allowing participants to chart multiple courses of thinking and discovery that anticipated the prevalence of search engines, social media, and the quick connection of the hyperlink.

Conceived by artists Lara Almarcegui, Isabel Lewis, and Santiago Cirugeda-led architecture studio Recetas Urbanas, 'Basilea' encourages reflection on a city's possibilities through a series of immersive projects connecting the City of Basel, its residents, and the over 90,000 fairgoers who attend the Basel fair annually. A Creative Time project commissioned by Art Basel, 'Basilea' will open to the public on May 23, culminating the week of Art Basel. The project marks Creative Time's first international public commission and the first collaboration between the artists. Art Basel, whose Lead Partner is UBS, will take place at Messe Basel from June 14 to June 17, 2018.

The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago, partnering with national and local community organizations, artist practitioners and scholars, continues its B-Series, a biannual celebration of hip hop and street dance, with Under 1 Roof: A House & Hip-Hop Convergence featuring B-Bout It, a street-dance jam and battle. Shakespeare in the Squares today announces its 2018 production of As You Like It, directed by Tatty Hennessy, which tours to London's squares and parks from 20 June to 13 July, with a press night at Arundel and Ladbroke Gardens on 26 June. Opening up London's glorious private squares and gardens to magical performances for Londoners and family audiences, Shakespeare in the Squares' third production follows the company's successful productions of Much Ado About Nothing in summer 2016 and Romeo and Juliet in summer 2017, which were performed to sell-out audiences. The tour of As You Like It will visit twice as many locations as the inaugural Shakespeare in the Squares tour in 2016.
