Billy Valentine is the third evening of blackbox @ the edye, which transforms The Edye into a club featuring up-and-coming jazz and blues artists. The series is curated and hosted by The Reverend Shawn Amos; he and his house band perform at select shows during the season as well.

Soulpepper Theatre Company is pleased to announce the appointment of award-winning director and dramaturge Weyni Mengesha as the company's new Artistic Director. Mengesha began her association with Soulpepper twelve years ago; she was a member of the Soulpepper Academy, and since then has won several awards as a director, dramaturge and teacher.

During last night's Season Release Bash at Filament Theater, Artistic Director and Co-Founder Michael Patrick Thornton proudly announced The Gift Theatre's 2019 Season will include: a revival of John Patrick Shanley's Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning drama DOUBT: A PARABLE directed by Ensemble Member John Gawlik and featuring Ensemble Members Jennifer Glasse, Maryann Thebus and Michael Patrick Thornton (February 27 - March 31) and the Chicago premiere of Hansol Jung's WOLF PLAY, directed by guest artist Jess McLeod (October 18 - November 24). The Gift's 17th season will also include a soon-to-be-announced third production (July 12 - August 18).

The Music Center announced it will present two star-studded concerts, JONI 75: A Birthday Celebration Live at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on November 6 and November 7, 2018, featuring an incredible array of singers and musicians who will honor one of the world's most remarkable artists, Joni Mitchell, on her 75th birthday. On both nights, Glen Hansard, Emmylou Harris, Norah Jones, Chaka Khan, Diana Krall, Kris Kristofferson, Los Lobos, Graham Nash, Seal, and Rufus Wainwright, will perform songs from all stages of Mitchell's life and career, across the entire oeuvre of her 19 studio albums. Co-musical directors, providing the musical arrangements for the evenings, are drummer Brian Blade, who recorded three studio albums and toured extensively with Mitchell, and, pianist, composer, arranger producer Jon Cowherd.

Puerto Rican singer, actor, and visual artist Ektor Rivera, who made his Broadway debut playing Emilio Estefan in the hit musical 'On Your Feet!' in 2016, has joined the same show's first national tour. AstonRep Theatre Company, under the new artistic leadership of Derek Bertelsen and Sara Pavlak McGuire, is thrilled to announce its 2018-19 Season, kicking off this fall with Martin McDonagh's dark comedy THE LONESOME WEST directed by Company Member Dana Anderson. This winter, the season continues with AstonRep's 10th ANNUAL WRITERS' SERIES, a daylong festival of workshops from talented local and regional writers. The 64th Ocean Grove Choir Festival, the largest sacred music choral event on the East Coast, will take place Sunday July 8th, 7PM at the historic 6,500 seat Great Auditorium under the baton of noted American conductor Jason Tramm. Tramm, who has been at the helm of this spectacular annual festival for over a decade, serves as conductor and steward of Ocean Grove's signature sacred music festival which has historically featured many of the finest choral and oratorio societies from New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania - and as far ranging as Virginia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Illinois, Louisiana - together with renowned soloists, musicians, composers and guest conductors.

Society for the Performing Arts (SPA), the largest nonprofit presenting organization of its kind in the Southwest, announces additions to its 2018-2019 season line-up. Since its initial unveiling in May, five shows have been added to SPA's season including eight performances of the legendary Broadway show, Chicago. Also joining the line-up is An Evening with Margaret Atwood, a conversation with the riveting author behind the best-selling novel The Handmaid's Tale, now an Emmy and Golden Globe series available on Hulu.
