Next month, 54 Below will present some of the brightest stars from Broadway, cabaret, jazz, and beyond for Women's History Month, including Linda Eder, Kate Baldwin, Jenn Colella and more.

Elton John’s album Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy will receive a 50th Anniversary Edition reissue, featuring the 2016 remaster of the original album, previously unreleased session demos, plus Elton’s live performance of tracks from the album, recorded during 2005 for the album’s 30th anniversary.

On April 5 and 6, New West Symphony (NWS) will celebrate its 30th anniversary by honoring musical milestones of iconic works: Bizet's Carmen and Smetana's Moldau (150 years); Bach Cantatas 1, 124 and the Easter Oratorio (300 years); and Rhinestone Cowboy, Mamma Mia and Bohemian Rhapsody (50 years).

Ian Tyson upped stakes from Vancouver Island and hitchhiked to Toronto, where he met a young singer from small-town Ontario called Sylvia Fricker. As Ian & Sylvia, they were the Canadian stars of the early ’60s folk boom that gave the world Bob Dylan, Phil Ochs, Joan Baez, the Clancy Brothers, and the Kingston Trio.

The family of the late Canadian country legend Ian Tyson, CM AOE, has confirmed the singer-songwriter died from on-going health complications on December 29th, 2022 at his ranch in southern Alberta, Canada at age 89.

Historical themes have always been incorporated into stage shows, from classic Broadway musicals to contemporary productions. Contrary to what some may believe, not all historical-themed productions are old Broadway musicals. Stage Director George Ferencz (1947-2021), passed away on September 14 following a long illness according to his wife of 35 years, Sally Lesser. For over a half century, Ferencz was a beloved fixture of New York’s Off- and Off-Off-Broadway theatre scenes.

New York Theatre Barn will host a free live stream of its award-winning New Works Series on Wednesday, May 12th, 2021 at 7PM EST, featuring excerpts from the new musicals Hart Island and Cowboy Bob. The live 1-hour presentation will also feature a conversation with the writers and creative team. 

Hampstead Theatre has announced the cast for Alfred Fagon's darkly compelling, The Death of a Black Man, directed by Dawn Walton, former Artistic Director of Eclipse Theatre Company, from 28 May until 10 July 2021. 

New York Theatre Barn will continue to host free live streams of its New Works Series on select Wednesday evenings at 7PM ET. Hart Island features performances by Natascia Diaz, Rodney Hicks and Gizel Jiménez. Cowboy Bob features Ashley Pérez Flanagan and Grace McLean.

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre has announced that the public can attend NAMT's 32nd Annual FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSICALS by making a donation to NAMT ($30 donation for one day / $50 donation for both days).
