B.J. Ryan's Magnolia Room Presents Raissa Katona Bennett and Kenneth Gartman in "What a Wonderful World," a duo show that will feature classic Great American Songbook, Broadway Show Tunes and some New American Songbook selections from contemporary writers, as duets and solo performances.

Washington National Opera (WNO) continues its annual holiday family opera tradition with The Lion, the Unicorn, and Me, December 14-16, 2018, in the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater. Based on Jeanette Winterson's award-winning children's book which tells the Nativity story from the donkey's point of view, The Lion, the Unicorn, and Me features music by Tony-award winning composer Jeanine Tesori (Fun Home) and a libretto by the late poet J.D. 'Sandy' McClatchy. These performances star current and former members of WNO's Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program.

Broadway actress-singer Raissa Katona Bennett has a very full and exciting calendar of performances this fall. Having just concluded the off-Broadway run of Spoolie Girl, she's setting her sights on cabaret and concert performances through the New Year.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full cast and creative team for Paradise Square: An American Musical. The world premiere is helmed by acclaimed director Moises Kaufman, with choreography by the legendary Bill T. Jones and a book by Marcus Gardley, Craig Lucas, and Larry Kirwan. Music by Jason Howland and Larry Kirwan, with lyrics by Nathan Tysen, and based on the songs of Stephen Foster. Paradise Square is produced by special arrangement with Garth H. Drabinsky in association with Peter LeDonne and Teatro Proscenium Limited Partnership.

Rockabilly music legend, Lee Rocker and his band, will be performing for one night only at Husson University's Gracie Theatre on Saturday, November 10, at 7:30 p.m. This Grammy-nominated member of the legendary music group Stray Cats will perform some of the band's signature hits like 'Sexy and Seventeen', 'Stray Cat Strut' and 'Rock This Town.' Original songs, and hits by Elvis and Carl Perkins will also be included in the concert performance.

Today's subject, Nancy Anderson, has been living her theater life on Broadway and in regional theaters for many years now. You can currently see her as the tight-fisted, but caring dance teacher Mrs. Wilkinson in Billy Elliot at Signature Theatre. The production plays through January 6, 2019 in the MAX space. Directed and choreographed by Signature Theatre's Associate Artistic Director Matthew Gardiner, it very well may be the largest production the company has presented to date.

A whole lot happened in Oz before Dorothy dropped in, and Wicked has been telling that story to Broadway audiences for 15 years at the Gershwin Theatre. The milestone won't go by uncelebrated, as in just days, NBC will throw a joyous Halloween party for the ages, featuring songs from the blockbuster musical hit and a cavalcade of special guest stars, including Tony Award winners Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth. Additional guest performers include Ariana Grande, Adam Lambert, Ledisi, Pentatonix and the current Broadway company of 'Wicked.' 'A Very Wicked Halloween' airs tonight, October 29th at 10PM ET/PT on NBC.

Broadway actress-singer Raissa Katona Bennett has a very full and exciting calendar of performances getting underway this week, beginning with the premiere of Spoolie Girl, a new and original fractured rock fairytale by Rosemary Loar. Spoolie Girl runs Oct. 17th through Oct. 27th at Actors Temple Theatre. 

Musical theater actor and Award-winning New York Cabaret performer Rosemary Loar is bringing her original musical SPOOLIE GIRL to the Actors Temple Theatre (339 W 47th St, New York) for a nine-show run from October 17-27. Loar, who wrote the music and lyrics, and co-wrote the book with her late husband Robert Atwood, calls the show “a family-friendly fractured rock fairy tale.” SPOOLIE GIRL is a suddenly orphaned eco-friendly teenager from Kenya who comes to New York City. Wearing magical curlers called “spoolies” in her hair, she is able to read people's thoughts as songs, while navigating a world consisting of her narcissistic, fashionista Aunt, a Fairy Godmother (but way hipper), and a quirky neighbor who walks an invisible dog. And that's her support group. Along with Loar, the cast features Loar, Claire Lilley, and Michiko Sasaki.

What about the story keeps audiences coming back again and again to see The Phantom of the Opera? Is it the lushly romantic score composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber? Due to popular demand, Alexandra Burke and Duncan James will extend their runs in CHICAGO at the Phoenix Theatre. Alexandra Burke will play Roxie Hart until 10 November 2018 and Duncan James will play Billy Flynn until 17 November 2018. Laura Tyrer will play Velma Kelly until 20 October followed by Josefina Gabrielle who returns to the role of Velma Kelly from 22 October - 5 January 2019.

NETworks Presentations, LLC, Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures and Unique Features, bring the Broadway musical ELF to the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans. Tickets will go on sale Friday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. for the Dec. 18-23, 2018 engagement. Presented by the New Orleans Theatre Association, ELF, is part of the Hancock Whitney Broadway in New Orleans 2018-2019 season.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's Love Never Dies will perform in Wharton Center's Cobb Great Hall starting Tuesday, October 9th through Sunday, October 14th as part of the MSU Federal Credit Union Broadway at Wharton Center Series. The brand-new touring production features an extensive re-working of the material by an Australian creative team for the original Australian premiere in 2011. Directed by Simon Phillips, known for Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical, with new set and costume designs by Gabriela Tylesova, choreography by 2011 Astaire Awards winner Graeme Murphy, lighting design by Nick Schlieper, and sound design by Mick Potter, the show is one of the few instances of a major West End musical being given a complete makeover for subsequent productions. The year is 1907, ten years after the disappearance of the Phantom from the Paris Opera House and he's escaped to a new life in New York where he lives among the freak shows at Coney Island. He finally found a place for his music to soar, but he never stopped yearning for his one true love, Christine Daae, and lures her, Raoul, and their young son to New York not knowing what's in store for them. BroadwayWorld Detroit had a chance to interview Erin Chupinsky, who grew up in Michigan and is currently on tour with Love Never Dies, about how much she loves the show and how great it is to be performing in her home state.

Philadelphia Theatre Company kicks off the 2018-2019 season with the Pennsylvania premiere of Lynn Nottage's Sweat.

The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Evans Haile, Executive Director), dedicated to the development of new musicals and rediscovery of musical gems from the past, presents the Off-Broadway premiere of the acclaimed new musical Midnight at The Never Get, with book, music, and lyrics by Mark Sonnenblick, co-conceived by Sam Bolen, by arrangement with Visceral Entertainment and Mark Cortale Productions.  Directed by Max Friedman, with choreography by Andrew Palermo, and music direction/arrangements by Adam Podd, the cast will feature Sam Bolen, Jeremy Cohen, and Jon J. Peterson.  Performances begin Tuesday, October 2, 2018 for a limited engagement through Sunday afternoon, November 4, 2018 at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). Opening Night is Thursday evening, October 11, 2018 at 6:45 p.m. 

The Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival is pleased to announce that Jeremy Lawrence will appear as the title character in a one-time performance of The Snagglepuss Chronicles on Sunday, September 30 at 11am in Provincetown.

Philadelphia Theatre Company kicks off the 2018-2019 with the Pennsylvania premiere of Lynn Nottage's Sweat. This Pulitzer Prize for Drama winner explores Reading, Pennsylvania's shrinking industrial economy and shares the fear, tragedy and hopefulness of a community on the verge of inevitable change. The production will kick-off the first produced season under new Producing Artistic Director Paige Price. Justin Emeka makes his Philadelphia debut directing a cast filled with local stars and Barrymore Award winners who have extensive theatre, film and television credits. Sweat will run from October 12 to November 4, 2018 at Philadelphia Theatre Company's stage at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre, 480 S. Broad Street. Opening Night is Wednesday, October 17th at 7:00pm. Music Theatre International Australasia, in partnership with AMICI Trust in New Zealand and producers Shane Bransdon and Daniel Stoddart, founders of OzTheatrics in Australia, and in collaboration with iTheatrics from the United States, will present the third annual Junior Theatre Celebration Australia in Newcastle, Australia on Friday 26th & Saturday 27th October and the second Junior Theatre Celebration New Zealand in Auckland, New Zealand on Friday 2nd & Saturday 3rd November 2018.

Starting October 7, Artists Repertory Theatre presents Bess Wohl's Small Mouth Sounds, directed by Shawn Lee. Artists Rep's 2016/17 season featured Wohl's American Hero, which was also directed by Lee. Small Mouth Sounds runs from October 7 through November 4 on the Alder Stage.
