The nonprofit AT&T Performing Arts Center announced today the 2017 Strauss Square fall season including Herbie Hancock. The 2017 lineup will feature a diverse schedule of world-renowned musicians, storytellers and songwriters. Drew Cohen, President of Music Theatre International (MTI), announced today that MTI will represent the secondary stage performance rights to five musicals by the legendary writing team of Lerner & Loewe, including their masterpiece My Fair Lady, the beloved classics Camelot, Brigadoon and Paint Your Wagon, and their newly-restored early work, The Day Before Spring.   MTI, from June 1, will begin representing My Fair Lady in the US, the UK, and all English-language territories, and will represent the four other titles on a worldwide basis. When Dawn Wells last appeared at the Alhambra Theatre, ticket started at $7.50, the Alhambra Dinner Theater served a buffet and she was directed by George Ballis.  That was in 1974 and Ms. Wells played the lead in Neil Simon's Barefoot in the Park.  On May 24, 2017, Ms. Wells will once again star at the Alhambra, this time in the Tod Booth-directed show, Steel Magnolias in what is now the Alhambra Theatre & Dining, celebrating its 50th anniversary season and is the longest running professional dinner theater in America.

Mark Rylance, three-time Tony Award winner (Jerusalem, Boeing-Boeing, Twelfth Night) and Academy Award-winner (Bridge of Spies), will return to Broadway in the critically acclaimed Shakespeare's Globe production of FARINELLI AND THE KING, a new play with music by author and composer Claire van Kampen, it was announced today by producers Sonia Friedman, Shakespeare's Globe and Paula Marie Black.

The Tony Award-nominated comedy, "Lettice and Lovage," will open Westport Country Playhouse's 87th Season, written by Peter Shaffer, author of "Amadeus," and directed by Mark Lamos, Playhouse artistic director.  The play runs from May 30 through June 17. 

On May 9, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. Evenings@7 will present a staged reading of Harvey Fierstein's Tony-winning play about love, family and drag performance in the late 1970s New York, TORCH SONG TRILOGY.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof pounces onto the Theatre Memphis Lohrey Stage April 28 through May 14, 2017. This Tennessee Williams' literary classic explores the family relationships of a wealthy Southern tycoon with recurring motifs of social mores, greed, mendacity, decay, sexual desire, repression and death. All are presented against the scene of a plantation home in the Mississippi Delta with bigger than life characters like Big Daddy and Maggie the Cat who rule the stage.

SandRico Productions will present a musical theatre work-in-development with a public reading of 'From the Bodoni County Songbook Anthology:  A Musical Revue (of sorts)' with original text and lyrics by Frank Gagliano and music by the late Claibe Richardson. 

Westport Country Playhouse will present a Script in Hand playreading of the romantic comedy "Lunch Hour" by Jean Kerr, on Monday, April 24, at 7 p.m.  The reading will be directed by Anne Keefe, Playhouse associate artist and curator of the playreading series. Tickets are $20 each.
