As part of their 100th Anniversary Season, Old Academy Players is proud to present the electrifying drama, Agnes of God, as its second mainstage production for 2022-2023. Agnes of God, written by John Pielmeier, debuted at The Eugene O'Neill Playwriting Conference in 1979, and later made its Broadway debut in 1982 starring Elizabeth Ashley, Geraldine Page and Amanda Plummer.

The 2022-23 season continues this winter with AstonRep’s 15th Annual Writer’s Series, featuring free readings of new works by emerging writers, presented virtually via Zoom.

What happens when 1880 Western bandits are brought back to life in Azusa, CA by a space alien? Sam Shepard's The Unseen Hand joins Odyssey Theatre Ensemble's 50th Anniversary “Circa '69” Season of significant and adventurous plays that premiered around the time of the company's inception, coupled with Shepard's gritty and audacious Killer's Head. Longtime Shepard collaborator Darrell Larson directs both plays for a Jan. 25 opening at the Odyssey Theatre in West L.A., where performances will continue through March 8.

First produced in 1978, Buried Child won the 1979 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, catapulting film actor, Sam Shepard to national fame as a playwright. It was honored with five Tony nominations, including a?oeBest Play,a?? for its revival on Broadway in 1996. Set in an old farmhouse in Illinois, Buried Child reflects the frustrations of the American people and their disillusionment with the American dream. At the same time, Mr. Shepard has masterfully created a drama, which is both engaging and entertaining. He has incorporated surrealism and symbolism in the framework of realism. Audience members will likely discover elements within this complex and powerful play, which are as resonant today as they were in 1978.

EgoPo Classic Theater in Philadelphia announces the hiring of Associate Producer, Dane Eissler, and Managing Director, Katrina Foy, arriving in July at the start of the 2019-2020 "Shepard Country" Festival Season, joining founder and Artistic Director Lane Savadove in leading the organization.  Foy succeeds Shayna Freed as Managing Director, who served in the role since 2015.  Eissler is the first in the Associate Producer role, marking a time of growth and opportunity for EgoPo's future.

On Sunday, June 2 at 5:30pm, EgoPo will host its Annual Season Launch Party at the Boot & Saddle on South Broad Street. "Shepard Country" will kick off EgoPo's 2019-20 Sam Shepard Festival Season with a Country Western celebration featuring live music, line dancing, and a country feast. Headlining the evening will be Jawbone Junction, Philly's own Southern Rock theater band with line dancing by Giddy Up Philly and catering by Easy Passyunk's Redcrest Fried Chicken.
