Rehearsals are set to begin on Tuesday, July 25 for the Playwrights Horizons New York premiere production of For Peter Pan on her 70th Birthday, a new play by two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist and Tony Award nominee Sarah Ruhl (Stage Kiss, Dead Man's Cell Phone at Playwrights; In the Next Room, or the vibrator play; The Clean House).

Playwrights Horizons has announced complete casting for THE TREASURER, the world premiere of a new play by Max Posner (Judy) and directed by three-time Lortel Award winner David Cromer (The Band's Visit, Our Town, Adding Machine). Commissioned by Playwrights Horizons, the play will be the second production of the theater company's 2017/2018 Season.  

Seminal British folk rock band Fairport Convention's 50 th anniversary will be celebrated on July 28 with two exciting releases via A&M/UMe a lavish 7CD box set chronicling their extraordinary first decade entitled, Come All Ye The First Ten Years, and a 180-gram vinyl reissue of their influential classic album, Liege & Lief. Playwrights Horizons (Artistic Director, Tim Sanford; Managing Director, Leslie Marcus) has announced that the score for their World Premiere production of the musical IOWA has been preserved as an Original Cast Recording, produced by Michael Croiter (Matilda, The Visit, Big Fish) and Todd Almond. IOWA is written by Jenny Schwartz (God's Ear, Somewhere Fun) with music by Todd Almond (Girlfriend) and lyrics by Ms. Schwartz and Mr. Almond.

Author Patricia McKissack, who produced children's books about black history with her husband, passed away on April 7th at the age of 72.  According to her son, Fredrick L. McKissack Jr., the cause was cardiorespiratory arrest.
