The Rural Touring Dance Initiative (RTDI) has commissioned two leading dance artists to create brand new shows especially for the rural touring circuit. The innovative partnership founded to increase touring by dance companies to rural areas has provided funding to create two new works designed especially to be performed in village halls.

Caroline Gottlieb, Visible Ink Productions, and the Beverly Hills Playhouse have announced a new production of Tom Kempinski's critically-acclaimed drama Duet for One, set for a five-week run at the Beverly Hills Playhouse. Under the direction of Allen Barton, the cast will feature Mia Christou and Howard Leder. Opening is on Friday, April 12, at 8pm. The regular running schedule is Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 7pm through May 12.

On a bitterly cold London evening, schoolteacher Kyra Hollis (Mahira Kakkar) receives an unexpected visit from her former lover, Tom Sergeant (Greg Wood), a successful and charismatic restaurateur. As the evening progresses, the two attempt to rekindle their once passionate relationship with food and wine, only to find themselves locked in a dangerous battle of opposing ideologies and mutual desires.

Compagnia de' Colombari, an international collective of performing artists founded and directed by Karin Coonrod,celebrates the bicentennial of the birth of America's most influential poet, Walt Whitman, with a revival of their acclaimed production More Or Less I Am. Equal parts irreverent comedy and emotional journey into family dysfunction, Dionysus Was Such A Nice Man by Kate Tarker examines with horror and humor the lasting effects of personal trauma. The first ever World Premiere commissioned for Wilma's HotHouse, this searing new play directed by French physical theater master Dominique Serrand runs April 23 - May 12 at The Wilma Theater.

Accept an invitation to a grand adventure when Children's Theatre Company (CTC) of Minneapolis produces a condensed, world premiere version of J.R.R, Tolkien's "The Hobbit." The popular novel, which happens to be a best selling children's book of all time, has remained in print since being published in 1937. This classic, literary legend will be transformed by British actor, director and playwright Greg Banks, who travelled from his home in the Cotswolds, England, just north of Bath, to frigid and then spring-like Minnesota so he could direct the production. From his cozy, Cotswolds environment, Banks' renown hails from rewriting literary classics into a condensed version where the story shines, especially in theater for young audiences.

Performance Space New York in collaboration with Arika and the Whitney Museum of American Art presents I wanna be with you everywhere, a gathering of, by, and for disabled artists and writers and anyone who wants to join in a series of programs that refuse policies of individuation and inclusion in favor of (and in the flavor of) whatever disability aesthetics has in bodymind. Bennett directs Robert Finch (Frank Strang/Horse), Keith Gilmore (Harry Dalton/Nurse/Horse), Ethan Kai (Alan Strang), Syreeta Kumar (Dora Strang/Horse), Norah Lopez Holden (Jill Mason/Horse), Ruth Lass (Hester Salomon/Horse), Ira Mandela Siobhan (Young Horseman/Nugget) and Zubin Varla (Martin Dysart) completes the cast. The production opens at Theatre Royal Stratford East on 21 February, with previews from 15 February and runs until 23 March prior to embarking on a UK tour to Cambridge Arts Theatre, Theatre Royal Bath, Bristol Old Vic, The Lowry, Northern Stage and Yvonne Arnaud Theatre.

The University Musical Society (UMS) will present the renowned photographer and visual artist Carrie Mae Weems in her theatrical work Past Tense on Friday, February 15 and Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 8 pm at the Power Center (121 Fletcher Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48109). The origins of Past Tense lies in Weems's powerful work Grace Notes, which was inspired by President Obama singing 'Amazing Grace' in the wake of the 2015 shooting that killed nine African-American members of a church in Charleston, SC. Through music, text, projection, and video, Past Tense uses the lens of race and its relationship to authority to draw parallels to the classic play Antigone.

Kafka's most famous story of a man who inexplicably finds himself transformed into a beetle will be getting a fresh adaptation from Bath-based company Beyond The Horizon. In a modern day setting and told with stunning visuals, provided by TV and film makeup artist Sarah Luscombe, the production probes our understanding of how perception shapes our interactions, and the pressures on families taking care of a person who is in some way debilitated. Gregor's metamorphosis will be shown in ultra-realistic detail through state-of-the-art makeup and prosthetics.

Following the Dora-Nominated hit BLACK BOYS, SAGA COLLECTIF returns with Ho Ka Kei (Jeff Ho)'s IPHIGENIA AND THE FURIES (ON TAURIAN LAND), a vital new adaptation of the rarely performed IPHIGENIA AMONG THE TAURIANS by Euripides. The World Premiere production will be presented from January 6 to January 20, 2019 at Aki Studio (Opening Night January 10).
