The Public Theater will kick off the 2016-17 season in September with a free Public Works musical adaptation of TWELFTH NIGHT, conceived by Kwame Kwei-Armah and Shaina Taub, with music and lyrics by Shaina Taub. Directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah, TWELFTH NIGHT will once again feature over 200 actors and community members alongside five equity actors, including this year Nikki M. San Francisco's cutting-edge and highly acclaimed experimentalCutting Ball Theater kicks off its 18th season with Avant GardARAMA! an all-in-one performance festival of seven short experimental plays showcasing the work of Bay Area directors. One of these short plays, a winning submission from a Cutting Ball Theater writer's workshop, is penned by a 16 year old student from San Francisco's celebrated Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts and directed by one of his instructors. Avant GardARAMA! runs October 5 - 23 at Cutting Ball's venue at the EXIT on Taylor (located at 277 Taylor Street at Ellis). LES Shakespeare Company veers to Greek tragedy this year with a production of ANTIGONE by Sophocles adapted and directed by Melody Erfani and presented by Planet Connections Festivity at Paradise Factory Theatre opening June 30with subsequent performances on July 6, 8, 9 and 10. Nick Neagle is choreographer and original music is by the band Lady and the Lion. The cast is Adriana Bohmier, Patrick Falcon, Chantelle Goulevitch, Kevin Mackenzie Mejia, Mike Maloney, Emily Shankman, Jae Woo, Yokko and Zackery Betty.

La MaMa presents I'm Bleeding All Over The Place: A Living History Tour, conceived and directed by Brooke O'Harra, text by Brooke O'Harra and Casey Llewellyn, with Erin Courtney, Kristin Kosmas and Heidi Schreck, and original music by Brendan Connelly. Jude Law returns to the stage in April 2017 to star in the world premiere of OBSESSION, a stage adaptation of Luchino Visconti's 1943 film. The three actresses from the THROUGH THE MILL's original run will once again portray Judy Garland at three pivotal stages in her life - Helen Sheals (CBS Judy), Belinda Wollaston (Palace Judy) and Lucy Penrose (Young Judy). at Southwark Playhouse. They will be joined by a further cast of nine actor-musicians, playing a variety of historical figures who featured heavily in Garland's biography. The production will run 6-30 July 2016 with an official press night of Friday, 8 July.
