BroadwayWorld Rhode Island readers nominated four area companies as "Rising Stars/Theaters to Watch" during the 2015 Regional BroadwayWorld Awards. Now, in a four-part series, the artistic directors from each theater will join BWW RI as guest bloggers, sharing their creative vision and inspiration in their own words. First up is Kira Hawkridge, the founding artistic director of OUT LOUD Theatre.

David Mirvish will present Rupert Everett starring in the North American premiere of Neil Armfield's production of David Hare's The Judas Kiss. This production began at London's Hampstead Theatre in 2012, where it received unanimous raves and broke the theatre's box office record. Due to popular demand, it transferred to London's West End, where it also had a brilliant engagement.

Word for Word opens the company's 2016 season with the work of two powerful contemporary writers, Emma Donoghue and Colm Toibin. The evening-length performance is entitled Stories by Emma Donoghue and Colm Toibin: 'Night Vision' by Emma Donoghue and 'Silence' by Colm Toibin. The production opens with a press night on Saturday February 27 and runs through April 3 in San Francisco's Z Below Theater.

The University of the Arts' Ira Brind School of Theater Arts announces the 2016 lineup for Polyphone, a "festival of the emerging musical" on the UArts campus in Philadelphia.  Running March 20-27, the 2016 the Polyphone festival produces staged concerts of new musicals and re-imagined canonical works offering professional composers, librettists and directors an opportunity to develop their work among the rich creative community of the Brind School at UArts.  The festival will program five musicals, including both classical and new works, with three performances each.  

THEBAN PLAYS is a contemporary performance based on Sophocles' Oedipus Cycle. The performance focuses on the themes embodied by three characters in the ancient dramas -- Oedipus, Jocasta, and Antigone.

CoHo Productions' 20th Season continues with a new stage adaptation of Charlotte Perkins Gilman's THE YELLOW WALLPAPER, one of the most important American short stories of the 19th century. This world premiere production will integrate expressionistic audio, visual and movement interludes with the haunting literary text. Sue Mach's adaptation, conceived by Grace Carter and directed by Philip Cuomo, features Carter, Chris Harder and Christy Bigelow. The production runs tonight, January 13 - February 6, 2016.

Silk Road Rising proudly presents the World Premiere of Jamil Khoury's Mosque Alert. All performances will be presented in the company's venue in Pierce Hall at The Historic Chicago Temple Building at 77 W. Washington St. in Chicago.

?Whidbey Children's Theater is thrilled to announce the return of Kylie McKenzie Soder as director of this year's Classic Conservatory for Young Adults production, Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare. Soder directed the CCYA 2015 production of Antigone by Sophocles to great acclaim.

ANTIGONE is an inventive retelling of the timeless Greek legend. Recommended for ages 11 and up, ANTIGONE will tour to Tristate community venues from Jan. 24 through Feb. 21.

La MaMa presents PYLADE -- a play by the late, celebrated Italian film director Pier Paolo Pasolini -- in its U.S. premiere 40 years after the author's murder. The production directed by Ivica Buljan, director of the Croatian National Theatre, begins performances beginning December 3 at La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E. 4 St.) with the press opening set for December 6, it has been announced by Mia Yoo, La MaMa's Artistic Director. This contemporary adaptation of the Greek myth, PYLADE will be performed by La MaMa's Great Jones Repertory Company (GJRC), a multi-faceted company of artists created 35 years ago by Andrei Serban, Elizabeth Swados and La MaMa's founder Ellen Stewart.

The Old Globe presents the Old Globe/University of San Diego Graduate Theatre Program's production of William Shakespeare's AS YOU LIKE IT, running tonight, November 14 - November 22 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.
