Players' Ring 25th Season Kicks Off With ARCADIA
Arcadia is a show has quite the pedigree. Hailed as a "masterpiece" and "Stoppard's finest work," Arcadia bounces back and forth between the early 19th century and the present day. In the past, a young math genius namEd Thomasina Coverly and her tutor endeavor to discover an algebraic "formula for all the future." Simultaneously, contemporary academics uncover Thomasina's papers, leading them on a thrilling intellectual adventure. Arcadia is "a perfect marriage of ideas and high comedy."
The Players' Ring season opener is produced by the team behind Antigone ("masterful," said seacoastonline) and Marat/Sade, winner of the 2015 Spotlight Award for Best Play.
Pickwick's Mercantile, with their penchant for time-hopping and nostalgia, is the show's official sponsor. Pickwick's characters will be serving tea and biscuits at intermission.
The show is directed by Jennifer Henry. The cast features a plethora of Seacoast favorites, including Crystal Lisbon, Jimmy Stewart, Michael Onaforo, Meredith Lamothe, Chance Taylor, Jessica Miller, Bretton Reis, Christopher Ferrill, Rich Harris, Ben Tylka, Gary Locke, and Constance Witman.
"Arcadia" includes mild sensuality, adult language, and adult themes.
