A programme comprising a huge-hearted feel-good comedy, a classic and a brand-new Ayckbourn, a co-production with Edinburgh's renowned Traverse Theatre, and a unique take on a classic novel has been announced by Scarborough's Stephen Joseph Theatre.

 On Wednesday, March 20, 2019, American Composers Orchestra (ACO) celebrates four individuals - true forces of nature - who have effected change in the American musical landscape at its annual Gala: Jon Deak, Founder & Artistic Director of New York Philharmonic's Very Young Composers; violinist Jennifer Koh; composer and conductor Tania Leon; and Frederick Wertheim, ACO Board Chairman. 

Spring activities for the Centennial, which continues through all of 2019, include a wide range of performances, film screenings, discussions, education initiatives, community programming, and new works by other artists in conversation with Merce Cunningham's work.

'Bring it On' meets 'Dreamgirls' in the girl-group musical, 'Betty and the Belrays' by William Electric Black aka Ian Ellis James, which will be presented by Theater for the New City January 31 to February 17. The piece tells the story of three white female singers from Detroit who struggle to change a racially divided society by singing for a black record label. Book and lyrics are by William Electric Black. Music is by Black, Valerie Ghent (arranger/keyboards for Ashford & Simpson) and Gary Schreiner. Choreography is by Jeremy Lardieri. Director is Mr. Black.

The Independent Counsel of Funk, the project spearheaded by Joe Scarborough of the critically acclaimed hit MSNBC Morning Joe show, today releases a new holiday-themed EP I Don't Want to Go Home for Christmas via Sony's RED MUSIC. CLICK HERE to listen to the band's latest collection of original songs that Scarborough wrote, arranged, and produced. AMC has viewers covered this holiday season with “AMC Best Christmas Ever,” its largest slate of holiday programming ever featuring 35 films and 18 specials, airing all day, every day. An American icon comes home.  During the early years of his career, American composer, conductor and arranger Henry Mancini and his family lived not far from where California State University, Northridge campus now stands.  On Saturday, October 13 at 8pm, Mancini's music comes home to Northridge as The Soraya presents Moon River and the Music of Henry Mancini.  Starring Monica Mancini with special guest three-time Tony nominated Joshua Henry, Moon River and the Music of Henry Mancini features Gregg Field as Music Director and Chris Walden conducting the New West Symphony.

On October 12-14, Theatre West hosts "To Dad with Love: A Tribute to Buddy Ebsen," starring Kiki Ebsen.Accompanied by four of Los Angeles' premiere jazz musicians, Kiki shares the story of Buddy Ebsen's seven-decade entertainment career through songs, poignant stories, and Dustin Ebsen's media montage that details her father's life. 

Warehouse Theatre will present The Sam Shepard Festival, a theatre repertory series honoring the American playwright Sam Shepard. The Festival will include fully staged productions of the Pulitzer Prize winning play Buried Child, the Tony Award winning play True West, and the semi-autobiographical play Cowboy Mouth, as well as readings on Curse of the Starving Class, Heartless, and Fool for Love.
