Craft Recordings has announced a special, 60th-anniversary reissue of The Sound of Musica?'Original Broadway Cast Recording. Featuring legendary stage actress Mary Martin as Maria von Trapp opposite renowned actor Theodore Bikel, the album includes such unforgettable classics as a?oeMy Favorite Things,a?? a?oeEdelweiss,a?? a?oeDo-Re-Mi,a?? a?oeClimb Ev'ry Mountaina?? and, of course, a?oeThe Sound of Music.a?? Set for a December 6th release date, the soundtrack has been deftly remastered from the original three-track tape by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound and will be available on CD or 180-gram vinyl. The CD edition features new liner notes by The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization's Ted Chapin, while the two-LP vinyl seta?'pressed at RTIa?'comes housed in a replica of the original album's gatefold jacket. The remastered album will also be available digitally, including hi-res (192/24).

Inspired by William Shakespeare's famous play, Romeo & Juliet, West Side Story is set in the Upper West Side neighborhood of New York City in the mid-1950s. The story explores the rivalry between two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds. The Jets, a white gang, and the Sharks, who are immigrants from Puerto Rico. Meanwhile, Tony, a former member of the Jets and best friend of the gang's leader, Riff, falls in love with Maria, the sister of Bernardo, the leader of the Sharks.

In a recent interview with Sunday Today, the actor, who won a Tony Award for originating the role,  revealed that initial plans are underway for a film adaptation, and that he would love to play the character again. On Saturday, September 28, the legendary Steve Miller Band and Jimmie Vaughan Band will perform a special concert celebrating rock and roll as one of the most important artistic movements of the 20th century.

Identical, the world premiere of a 'Twin-sational' new musical, destined for London's West End, is based on the novel The Parent Trap by Erich Kästner, which inspired Disney films featuring Hayley Mills in 1961 and Lindsay Lohan in 1998. It tells the story of twin girls separated at birth, reunited by chance at a summer camp 10 years later. In an attempt to re-join their divorced parents, they decide to exchange identities.

Opening on Friday night at The Coterie Theatre inside Crown Center is a?oeRise Up,a?? a four person, seventy five minute play written by British playwright Lisa Evans. The subject is the 1961 a?oeFreedom Ridersa?? project designed by James Farmer's CORE (Congress of Racial Equality). The premise is a group of four contemporary secondary students recount a conflict in the struggle for racial equality in the U.S. for a school age audience.

Celebrating the 70th anniversary of Prestige Records, the deluxe six-LP set presents the quintet's marathon sessions for the iconic jazz label, recorded between 1955–56, which resulted in classic albums such as Cookin', Relaxin', Workin', and Steamin'. Plus, the box set offers a bonus LP with audio from radio and TV appearances by the group. Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, is pleased to announce the recipients of The Willa Kim Costume Design Scholarship 2019. Administered by TCG with support from The Estate of Willa Kim, the Scholarship provides exceptionally talented costume designers who are enrolled in a university or professional training program with the opportunity to supplement their fine arts training in hand-drawing and painting.
