Lightning Bolt Productions burst onto the Boca Raton theatre scene last August with their well-received production of The Addams Family at the Boca Black Box Center for the Arts. The success of the fledgling company's first effort encouraged the company's young founder Jessie Hoffman, to 'bump it up a level': their next production, Young Frankenstein - The Mel Brooks Musical, will open on April 13th at West Boca Performing Arts Center at West Boca High School*. Cast And Creatives Announced For U.S. Premiere of DR. SEUSS'S THE LORAX

???????The Old Globe, together with Children's Theatre Company (CTC), and in partnership with The Old Vic, today announced details for the Minneapolis and San Diego productions of Dr. Seuss's The Lorax in its U.S. premiere. The production, based on the book The Lorax by Dr. Seuss, is adapted for the stage by David Greig (Artistic Director of the Royal Lyceum Theatre Company; recent work: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Cover My Tracks) with music and lyrics written by Charlie Fink (Frontman/songwriter for the hit musical group, Noah and the Whale (2007-2015). H. Adam Harris, along with Meghan Kreidler and Rick Miller puppeteering, will play The Lorax. Joining them is Steven Epp as The Once-ler. Playing multiple roles in the ensemble are Ansa Akyea, Christopher Becknell, Stephanie Bertumen, Brian Bose, Ryan Colbert, Lynnea Doublette, Johannah "Joh" Easley, Rajane Katurah, Ryan Lear, Ryan Dean Maltz, Emily Michaels King, and Autumn Ness. BWW Feature: WRITE STUFF! at Mill Mountain Theatre

An Equity Theatre's program to encourage young playwrights culminates in staged productions of the winning scripts. Mill Mountain Theatre Conservatory proudly presents Write Stuff! for it's 2nd Annual Festival. Mill Mountain Theatre Conservatory, the onsite, pre-professional training program at Roanoke's Equity Theatre, is hosting their second annual festival of new works penned by local students. The playwriting contest was open to Middle School and High School playwrights, with the winning three being produced as staged-readings. The chosen plays this year are by all female playwrights: Job Switch by Mikayla Parker, Little Sacrifices by Caroline Moledor, and Auditions by Caroline Westphalen. The festival of staged-readings will be this Saturday, February 10, 2018 on the Waldron Stage. Mill Mountain Theatre Conservatory students and local talent will act in the plays directed by Mill Mountain Theatre staff. (more...)

Spark Movement Collective introduces a new family-friendly dance production of the age-old tale of Robin Hood with a contemporary twist. Robin Hood Now, updates the famous folklore by drawing inspiration from real stories about acts of kindness shared by children around New York. Choreographed by Artistic Director Chelsea Koenig, a female Robin Hood is inspired to become an active part in her community and creates 'Green Hoods for Good,' a space for children to share their worries and challenges. Robin and her friends spring into action by inventing, recycling, creating, and more, all while trying to find a way to celebrate a park that is to be closed down. This production is a perfect example of how it is possible for all of us to help shape the world we live in today. The main character, Robin embodies the spirit of doing good for others, and inspires us to pay it forward. Throughout the show audience members will dance in their seats, or even on the stage, and they'll help Robin and her friends celebrate the park by generating new dance moves! Robin Hood Now comes at a perfect time, and is thoughtfully crafted for children of all ages and their families to enjoy together.   (more...)
