The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced programming for its 2018-2019 season of Performances for Young Audiences, featuring trailblazing journeys in theater, music, and dance that will inspire and resonate with audiences of all ages. The Kennedy Center has commissioned and co-commissioned six world premiere works that will bring audiences on expeditions through time and place to Birmingham in the 1960s, through a young man's imagination in present day New York City, and even to the stars and beyond.

Second Stage Theater (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director; Casey Reitz, Executive Director) has announced that Golden Globe and two-time Emmy nominee Josh Charles, Kate Bornstein and Ty Defoe will join Armie Hammer and Tom Skerritt in the Broadway production of Young Jean Lee's dark comedy, STRAIGHT WHITE MEN, directed by Anna D. Shapiro.

Stages Repertory Theatre's 2018-2019 Season, the final full season to be performed at the theatre's current Allen Parkway facility, offers a dynamic mix of new work, fan favorites and stories reflecting Houston's diverse communities. Manfred Honeck will return to the New York Philharmonic to conduct Sibelius's Violin Concerto, with Nikolaj Znaider as soloist; Mr. Honeck's own arrangement of Dvorák's Rusalka Fantasy, orchestrated by Tomáš Ille; and selections from Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty, Thursday, May 3, 2018, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, May 4 at 11:00 a.m.; Saturday, May 5 at 8:00 p.m.; and Tuesday, May 8 at 7:30 p.m. The following week, Nikolaj Znaider will make his New York Philharmonic conducting debut leading Elgar's Cello Concerto, with Jian Wang in his subscription debut, and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 1, Winter Dreams, Thursday, May 10, 2018, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, May 11 at 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, May 12 at 8:00 p.m.

At age 82, singer-raconteur, Ira Lee Collings is thrilled to be nominated for a 2018 MAC Award in the "Musical Comedy Performer" category. The self-proclaimed "gay geezer" is over the moon; the only other performer to claim an "oldest" distinction is Marilyn Maye (she'll be 90 years old in April) who won her first MAC in 2010. And while it's true that Carol Shedlin has a few years on both Maye and Collings, she'll be receiving the non competitive Hanson Award this year, an honor given to a performer who has never received a MAC nomination, but who has, none the less, done excellent work over a sustained period of time. Last year's Hanson Award winner, by the way, was - Ira Lee Collings!

Following a smash hit run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2017 and as seen on ITV's Royal Variety Performance, Circus Abyssinia makes its London premiere at Underbelly Festival for six weeks only. Due to demand, The New Group has announced a three-week extension for Jerry Springer - The Opera, with Matt McGrath appearing as Jerry Springer beginning March 13.  Terrence Mann, currently appearing in the role of Jerry Springer, plays his final performance March 11 due to an existing commitment beyond that date.

Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. The Festival will wrap up that evening at 7:30 p.m. with The Great Leap by Lauren Yee, directed by Delicia Turner Sonnenberg (Globe's Skeleton Crew).

Rehearsals begin today for The 5th Avenue Theatre's new production of Mamma Mia!, the celebrated musical that features the music of global pop sensation ABBA.
