Chicago Shakespeare Theater announces the cast for the North American premiere of Jessica Swale's exuberant new comedy Nell Gwynn, September 20-November 4, 2018. The music- and dance-filled play took London audiences by storm when it debuted at Shakespeare's Globe, followed by a celebrated run on the West End. Director of the original London production, Christopher Luscombe, helms the new Chicago Shakespeare production. Star of Broadway and the West End Scarlett Strallen appears as Nell; Chicago leading actor Timothy Edward Kane performs the role of King Charles II.

This October, 1,000 singers from across New York City's five boroughs will come together on the High Line for the premiere performances of The Mile-Long Opera: a biography of 7 o'clock. Due to overwhelming demand for tickets to the previously announced performances (October 3-7), an encore performance will be added on October 8.Tickets for this additional night will be made available first to members of the public currently on the waitlist, on a first come, first served basis, beginning Thursday, September 27, at noon. Those interested in accessing these tickets may join the waitlist at milelongopera.com. Tickets for The Mile-Long Opera are free, but advance registration is required. A standby line will open 30 minutes prior to the 7:00pm time slot on all performance dates.

The Verdi Chorus 35th anniversary season culminates with its Fall 2018 concert Passione! Opera! for two performances only at the First United Methodist Church in Santa Monica on November 10 and 11 led by Founding Artistic Director Anne Marie Ketchum. As the only choral group in Southern California that focuses primarily on the dramatic and diverse music for opera chorus, this program, which marks the end of a landmark year for the company, will feature selections from three Verdi operas - Aida, Don Carlo, and the famed chorus 'Va, pensiero,' from Nabucco, as well as operatic sequences from Boito's Mefistofele, Saint-Saens' Samson and Delilah, Catalani's La Wally and Offenbach's The Tales of Hoffmann.

Acclaimed dancer Daniel Mayo, a member of the BalletX contemporary ballet company since 2014, will teach classical dance for the Metropolitan Ballet Company (MBC) Boys' Scholarship Program during the 2018-19 season, announced MBC founder and Artistic Director Lisa Collins Vidnovic. Mayo gave his final performance for BalletX this summer, and looks forward to joining the MBC faculty. The academic and performance season commencing in September 2018 is the 20th anniversary of MBC's renowned Boys' Scholarship Program, which provides tuition-free dance training in all-male classes for boys from ages 7 to 18.
