March 27 marks World Theatre Day! Although we can't be together to celebrate, we can still reminisce on the fun of theatre in our lives.

The criteria are that these shows have been nominated for Best Musical from the 3rd Tony Awards (the ceremony that started the Best Musical category) in 1949 to the nominations of what will now be the 74th Tony Awards in 2021. I will be determining their signs based upon their Broadway premiere date. With those rules in mind, here we go!

IAMA Theatre Company has announced three late-night dates for a special presentation of Davy Rothbart's 'Found Magazine' show, in which Rothbart shares his collection of discarded notes and letters including photos, love notes, grocery lists and other magical and mesmerizing finds. Bridge Street Theatre in Catskill continues its Free Summer Movie Matinee Series this Saturday July 6th with a real gem - German animator Lotte Reiniger's exquisite "The Adventures of Prince Achmed" (1926). Based on tales from the Arabian Nights, the film tells the story of the handsome and dashing Prince Achmed, who is tricked by a wicked sorcerer into mounting a magical flying horse. The prince foils the sorcerer's evil intent and soars headlong into a series of exciting adventures, joining forces with Aladdin and the Witch of the Fiery Mountains, doing battle with the sorcerer's army of monsters and demons, and falling in love with the beautiful Princess Peri Banu.

With a legendary book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, Chicago is now the #1 longest-running American musical in Broadway history.
