ELIZABETH IRELAND McCANN, the iconoclastic Broadway producer who won nine Tony Awards during a 60-year career in theater, died after a bout with cancer on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, according to her longtime associate and friend, Kristen Luciani.  She was 90 years old. 

Paula Poundstone, whose razor-sharp improv skills have delighted comedy audiences for nearly 40 years, brings her acclaimed one-woman show to the A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts on October 21.

The State Theatre Center for the Arts, Easton, PA, has announced its 2021-2022 Season, the 95th season at the historic venue.  Tickets for the new season will go on sale to State Theatre Members on Monday, August 2nd, and to the general public on Monday, August 9th.

The Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation (LAEF) is deeply saddened by the passing of Stanley Crouch, who served as President of LAEF from 2010 – 2020. The 74-year old author, journalist, critic, playwright, poet and NEA Jazz Master died Wednesday, September 16, in the Bronx, New York, following a long illness. A private family service will be held October 26, followed by a public celebration of life at a later date.

New original special House of Horrors: The Friends Speak explores the Turpin family nightmare in which 13 children were abused by their parents for decades.

Ask anyone to describe the Three Musketeers, and you'll get the usual answers: three heroes, bound together in brotherhood, inseparable in the most dire circumstances. But unless one were intimately familiar with Alexandre Dumas' novel or its many adaptations, five will get you ten the average Joe today would be remiss to actually name all of them. That's not the fault of the average Joe, but rather the reputation that precedes these fictional characters. Most would be familiar with what they are, not necessarily who they are.
