Not too often does an evening in the theatre take me back to the days of NYMF (New York Music Festival), when my brother Tom Kitt and his college friend/lyricist Brian Yorkey workshopped a little show with a small band called Feeling Electric into a fully-realized musical with tremendous heart.

Directed byBill Castellino, and with choreography by Joshua Bergasse, and music direction by Matt Perri, the six-member cast stars Broadway veteran and hoofer Robert Creighton as the legendary James Cagney, with Jeremy Benton, Danette Holden,Bruce Sabath, Josh Walden, and Ellen Zolezzi. The cast of My Name is Asher Lev, Ari Brand, Mark Nelson, Ilana Levine, Naama Potok, and Jonathan Raviv come to 92YTribeca on Thursday, March 28 from 12-1pm for a conversation about this highly-praised new play based on the best-selling novel by Chaim Potok (author of The Chosen). The cast will also perform a few of their favorite excerpts from the show.

After opening to critical acclaim, My Name is Asher Lev, the hit play adapted from the novel by Chaim Potok (The Chosen) at The Westside Theatre (407 W. 43rd Street) has just announced that it will extend its run for the third time, through September 1, 2013.

Barber Joins Caulfield & Robbins in CACTUS FLOWER, Previews 2/24

It was announced today that Jenni Barber (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) and Emily Walton (August: Osage County) will complete the cast of the upcoming Off-Broadway revival of Abe Burrows' classic comedy Cactus Flower. They join previously announced cast members Maxwell Caulfield (Grease 2), Lois Robbins ('Ryan's Hope'), Anthony Reimer ('Rescue Me'), John Herrera (The Times, They are a Changin'), Robin Skye (Parade) and Jeremy Bobb (Is He Dead?). Michael Bush will direct the upcoming revival, which begins previews on Thursday, February 24 with an official opening night set for Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the Westside Theatre Upstairs (407 West 43 Street, NYC).
